Chapter One: Welcome to Mayfield, Mr. Beoulve~ [voice/action]

Dec 05, 2009 15:11

[It's another lovely morning in Mayfield! The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and one very confused Ramza Beoulve is wandering around his new home. This is not where he fell asleep last night. These are not his pajamas (though they are quite comfortable). His sword and armor are nowhere to be found. His sister is missing as well. Welp, this ( Read more... )

[Coming downstairs, Tifa has noticed that the pictures have all changed. It therefore doesn't surprise her to see Ramza. She just sighs.]

Hey.

[Ramza blinks. It's the same woman from the pictures, but even after seeing her face-to-face, she isn't anyone he's ever met before...]

Erm. Hello. Is this your home, milady? I apologize for intruding, but I am not altogether certain how I came to be here in the first place.

Well, kind of.

[She shakes her head.]

I'm sorry. My name is Tifa. And it looks as though... you're my new husband.

Well met, Tifa; my name is Ramza.

[It takes a moment for that last word to sink in. And when it does, he stares at her, wide-eyed.]

...Husband?

Mayfield. It's a town where we've all been stuck in.

...Uh, where are you from? Just so I can explain it in a way you'd understand.

Stuck? You mean to say there is no way out of this place?

...I hail from Ivalice. Anything you could tell me would be appreciated.

Excuse me...

[That voice... It's one Ramza hasn't heard in a very long time, but one he'll never be able to forget.

With a sigh, he hangs the family portrait he'd been looking at back on the wall and turns around slowly. He was somewhat prepared for this encounter, fortunately, but that doesn't keep him from being at a complete loss as to what to say. Awkwarrrrrrd.]

[Teta doesn't recognize him at first. Actually, his face looks REALLY familiar, similar Ramza's, actually...

In fact, it gives her quite a start at the resemblance. Though in place of his childish baby-fat, the Ramza-lookalike had more adult, handsome features. The blush was simply the heat in the room, Ramza, don't argue.

But then she relaxes. This can't be Ramza, he's sixteen! Even though he looks like him...He can't possibly...

So she smiles reassuringly instead. A common thing to do to newcomers here...since they're all quite rattled and confused.]

I am sorry if I startled you. You are new here, are you not?

My apologies, sir. You have been kidnapped, as have we all, and it does not seem likely that you will be returning any time soon.

This is the most bizarre kidnapping I have ever witnessed, then. Who is responsible for this, do you know?

There are men here in this town who wield power beyond our ken. To challenge them is utter folly- but we do it regardless, albeit in secret.

I am fairly certain I have faced worse -- though without my sword... I will do what I can to assist, regardless, if it will see us free from this place.

Being lost isn't quite the term you're looking for. This may come as hard to comprehend, but this isn't anywhere that you'd know. It is a rather unlucky city called Mayfield.

Unlucky, yes... That is an excellent way to put it.

[A sigh.] I suppose there is naught else to do for this but accept it, and try to break ourselves free when the opportunity arises.

That is the general consensus. However, some are more active toward escape than others. Though, there are the odd few who enjoy this place compared to where they did come from. That would make sense if the alternative is the afterlife.

That aside, mind if I ask when and where you are from?

I... can see how this might be favorable compared to death, yes. I need to return home to my sister, however.

I come from the kingdom of Ivalice, milady, if you are perchance familiar with it.
