it's been decided. i'm moving. but i don't yet know when/where and after pondering this much today... the ever-impending, doomily-looming "why" in my head these days won't leave me alone. it keeps spiraling around my head

well, i know some stellar people in dublin!! plus MATH is in boston and DOCTOR in SF... it seems like change is coming for you once again. of course, chicago would be more than happy to welcome you home, but i'm sure you know that. these are big decisions... but i say, if you have an inkling to do something BIG and risky, like going abroad... DO IT!!! what do you have to loose besides possessions? (with so much experience and adventure to gain) pack up a couple boxes of things that are precious and sentimental, sell the rest, take a deep breath, and take the plunge. love ya' darlin'...
wha? that seems sudden. i'm all for moving. just make sure it's not a "geographical cure."
boston is nice. sleepy and a bit boring, but nice. NICE. yeah...scratch boston.
nyc is too expensive to be happy. you really gotta be born there or be a truly wealthy masochist to love nyc.
same with s.f. these days. although i've got some great friends.
dublin kicks ass. expensive. but young and up and coming. lots of social service positions too.
MEXICO is my vote. cheap. great people. if you speak spanish they'll love you for your bilingual/american connections. warm. cheap. great people. jeesh, i love mexico.
yeah, seems sudden cuz i haven't been talking about it... but it's been rolling around my head for quite some time. and moving is so draining on me... makes me feel like if i'm going to be moving out of abe's house (we decided that we can't live together), then why stick around a town i'm not absolutely crazy about? i have lived in mexico. and it will always feel like home to me. and having family there is a big draw as well. but it's hard to be queer there. really hard. and not quite the political environment i'd be hoping for. hmm. thanks for the suggestions! ;)
Mexico or San Diego, those are my votes. Somewhere warm more than two months out of the year, sunny, and by the ocean. Isn't the west coast Gen-Con in San Diego?? Meybe. Anyhow. If you're not in love with Austin and don't feel a connection with the city, then I think researching a different homebase is a good idea. I dont think its very important to know exactly what you want out of life all the time, 'cuz then nothing will surprise you. Remember, you wont get enlightenment from a location, just a tan. I'm going to start my own line of fortune cookies soon. :) I miss you, move somewhere sunny and next to the water, so we can frolick on the beach! -Rex- xo
