Killing rat pups

Hi, I have a question. My Black mexican King, Samuel Slick, is now eating rat pups. The 'full grown adult' mice at the store are becoming more and more tiny and it's not worth it.

So my question is, how do you humanely kill these rat pups? Their eyes aren't open and they don't have their teeth yet, so I know I could feed live. Slick has bad aim and often eats from the behind first and the five minutes of pup screaming gets to me. :(

I tried the thing where you pull them and break their spine but I nearly ripped the buggers head off. This was unpleasant. I would prefer not to buy frozen, because I have bad luck (or no patience) thawing. They are too tiny to smack, I think. I don't want their little brains all over the counter.

Any thoughts on how to best kill rat pups would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
