my snake ate! :D

Apparently the key to the KSB eating is a live fuzzy, lights off and me gone to get her to eat. I do NOT like feeding live, and I don't intend to keep on doing it, but she hadn't eaten since christmas and refused all sorts of sizes and variations. I tried fresh killed and it didn't work- this was the last resort. I mentioned to a reptile guy my ( Read more... )

I'd probably work more on getting her to f/t before worrying about whether the lights were on and I was there. I have a corn snake (yes, a *corn snake*) who is a bit iffy about eating if her feeding bin isn't covered, even after almost three years. But she eats, and so I don't worry. That's me, though.

Heh. Yeah. "Big" is pretty variable...

That is a large male! Wow! (also I'm pretty sure you meant you didn't know male KSB's could get that big, not that snakes in general are that big like a lot of the comments here suggest :P)

I have four king snakes and while I love them, most of them are kind of buttholes, lol. Especially my male, some days I just don't even try to handle him because I don't want to get snapped at or musked on. I do have a hypo female that is perfectly content at being handled! They all just have so many different personalities, but that's why I love them. :)

Here are my kings:

The first king is gorgeous! I love his/her markings on the face. (I still don't the differences between hypo/non hypo and etc xD the only one I 'know' is anery and albino and that's cause they are easy). Kings have adorable faces- they look so clever. I love Asha and sandboas, but they really don't look that smart haha.
I've looked around a little at the kings, and I like the Baja Blacks- I don't know how their temperament is but they sure are pretty.

And yeah, I meant that I didn't realize male KSB's could get that large haha. I was like 'are you sure thats a male, because he's huge.' I always thought if Asha was male, he'd get a inch or two longer and maybe heavier but not much more and... yeah no. That snake is much older, but that's a good size and what I'd wanted xD I don't have a ton of room so I can't have a tank much larger then 20 or 30 (which would be pushing it) so all the bigger snakes aren't an option which is why I went KSB. I really like boas, they stay small, easy conditions, and they are really stinking pretty.
