[Background]
It's related so
a wiki about the actual historical figure. The story started out in 1809. While Beethoven was rummaging through a local music shop before Hayden's memorial service, he came across a outspoken girl named Sirene Fliess. Outraged that her father's work is published in Mozart's name, she threw a tantrum in middle of the store and left in a huff. This was how Ludwig van Beethoven first came across the mysterious Mozart's lullaby. When confronted with young lady again, Beethoven informed her that with trained eyes that it was obvious the piece was not by Mozart - there were too many odd places that the infamous genius would never allow. Inevitably, she introduced herself and demanded that he too give her a name; he just gave her his first name - "Ludwig". While going to the memorial together (turned out Sirene will be singing in the memorial service), they discussed more about this lullaby that her father supposedly wrote. While parting, she called out his full name, leaving the composer to think that she is a "fearsome woman". At last in the memorial, he met his student Czerny and the Court Composer Salieri. Suspense builds on the next few chapters as Beethoven, Sirene, and later Czerny attempt to discover the true cause of Mozart's death and the intention behind the score of Mozart's lullaby. While snooping around, Beethoven was also busy in preparation for a concert - but while practicing the orchestra member noticed a strange man sitting on the spectator's seat and staring intensely at the practice for hours. It turned out to be the music store's owner’s dead body. The plot thickens as the people surrounding Mozart were revealed one by one, and as the chances of Freemasons being involved increased, Beethoven became more and more interested in the lullaby’s mystery.
As the story progressed however, it became apparent that Mozart was one of Freemasons himself and despite his childhood admiration for him, Beethoven also suspected that he too was somehow involved in murders. As his interference with Freemason’s business increased, they too began to take actions against him. First was interruption of practice for his concert and next, there were attempt to poison him - twice. Luckily, he survived (thanks to a cat and his deafening ear). With many squabbles here and there, Beethoven and his gang discovered that the score to the lullaby was actually a decoder along with the golden flute from a statue in the Orchestra house. They also found a man who told them that Mozart’s death was connected to the “assassination” of Joseph II (which in turn was connected with conspiracy against Rome by Napoleon). Their next stop was the relief hospital where Schikaneder was kept imprisoned … Beethoven wore a skirt because prostitutes could easily enter the hospital. (LOL!) The imprisoned aristocrat informed Beethoven that Fliess (Sirene’s father) and Joseph II died from mercury poisoning - and that the magic flute played part in it (since it was made purely out of gold). They couldn’t get much more out of Schikaneder since he was half-brain dead, and out heroes returned home with new questions.
Despite this on-going search for truth, Beethoven had also been practicing for his upcoming concert by finding new Orchestra recruitment. During the practice, however, Beethoven figured out that his horn player was also involved in this whole business - he was actually a friend of Fliess, Albert Gotter. He too was disturbed by what was going on Vienna and had sort of orchestrated the whole investigation that Beethoven was dragged into. He was poisoned his wine one time too when Czerny and Beethoven was over for dinner. When Beethoven angrily pointed that out, his response was “It was meant to stimulate your interest in this case” with a wink and thumbs up. …What a guy. But now the team knew that Salieri was definitely involved. He was only one who could tell them the truth. In order to prosecute him, Beethoven planned to reveal his wrong-doings in his concert, from the commend room where the Viennese audience could hear them loud and clear.
But unfortunately for him, he winds up in Somarium before he makes it to the concert.
[Personality]
Beethoven is pessimistic and pensive individual. He often seems indifferent and anti-social. He even describes himself as “someone who clashes with others.” There are few things he likes and a lot of things that irritates him. He shows his affections rarely and if he ever does, it is subtle and often not in front of the receiver of those affections. He does care for people even if his way of pushing people to right direction seems often hostile and harsh. It is possible that he has a hard time expressing things in more gentle or friendlier way.
However, if the situation called for it he can be fairly sociable, thanks to many years of working in courts and going to social gatherings. Don’t expect him to be eagerly talking to someone though - he likes his space and that’s that. He is also stingy when it comes to money, because “composers don’t make that much money.” He tries to avoid outgoing where he would have to pay for others (students included). But being a gentleman, he does pay for woman, albeit with annoyance.
Music is his true companion and way of communicating with others. He is most comfortable when he is surrounded by music. Which is the whole reason, he is bitter towards his worsening deafness.
Beethoven also enjoys simpler things in life like good food and wine. :3
[Specialties/Abilities]
Did you really expect something detailed here? While he has no outstanding battle skills, his musical prowess is one of the most astonishing. His expertise is piano with side helping of violin. Not only he is good at playing instruments, he is very keen intellectual when it comes to music. He knows how to make music and make it sound good. And that, my friend, is not easy.
He also has knack of solving mysteries - he’s no Sherlock Holmes, but if time and opportunity comes along, Beethoven will be able to solve them. (This manga being in the mystery genre and all that) He is also quite observant and resourceful of his surroundings.
[Affection] He's not touch-feely kind of guy. He'll escort the ladies like proper gentleman if time calls for it. But relationship wise ... I don't think anyone wants to get it with forty-year old, just saying.
[Fighting] Nope. I don't plan on this guy to fighting a scarecrow, let alone a Saiyan level battle champion. :l
