I watched C.S. Lewis': 'The Voyage of the Dawn Treader' last night and was struck by the authors lesson on the selfishness and sinfulness of suicide.

I can't imagine a person, with a functioning intellect, who has never at least contemplated ending this earthly struggle.

C.S. Lewis, author of: The Chronicles of Narnia, definitely intended the character Aslan, a giant talking lion, to be an allegorical representation of Jesus Christ. Most of Aslan's actions in the story are comparable to parts of the story of Jesus. This is an explicitly Christian fantasy story, with an explicitly Christ-like hero at the center of it. Jesus Christ, like Aslan, makes an impression on everyone, but that impression varies depending on what the individual is like, what he or she has done, and how they view the world.

Lewis's character, Caspian, knowing that he would never return from an adventure into Aslan's Country, (heaven), decides at the last instant to turn back, and go back to Narnia to govern it properly.
