Yes, and I found it really cool. Especially because I was immune to it, due to a dwarven racial skill (then later a better cure was found).

There were seriously bodies all over the dwarven city of Ironforge where most people conduct their everyday business. It's pretty much the Alliance hub. I signed on in Ironforge and before my graphics finished loading, I was dead. People everywhere were gushing blood...it was pretty gruesome.
