I actually had yesterday off and like the martyr that I am I volunteered to go man the 'Friends of State Parks' booth at the Eno River festival. I was signed up for 2pm until 6pm and so me and the family went off. It was a pretty good time, despite the fact that I pretty much sat at a booth the whole time. The music was good and the people

2) sad case of working the system next door to my parents. Guy had land he wanted to put a development in (they were popping up like mushrooms at the time) and was told he could not because it was a wetlands. He responded, well, my trees are a crop, right, I can harvest them? Apparently yes, for some reason trees in a wetland are not protected. Well, surprise, trees gone, sun coming down, wetlands dried up, development okayed as the wetlands were gone due to "natural" circumstances. He didn't even have to put in a pond or anything. :(
