The last four days I have done nothing but study the files of Percy Weasley And catch the end of the England/Portugal match with some coworkers. His disappearance will be solved. I cannot imagine the pain that his family is going through, and if there is one thing that I pride myself on in my work (aside from living for my work) it's that some good ( Read more... )

It seems that while sympathy has been expressed to Miles Bletchley, I might have forgotten to send my condolences to Cynthia Baddock. Of course I know the rules of good manners should have caused me to send a sympathy owl to the sister first. Chalk another one up for my inability to follow the correct precedent in social situations.

I'm offended, Susan. Offended on behalf of your career.

I imagine there are older colleagues with the ministry who have nothing on your determination to look into situations like the one with Mr Weasley, but hoard a profound store of knowledge about appropriate owl species for ministerial letters of condolence, if you know what I mean. Next time you have to announce a death event, track one of them down and ask for help with the details?
It's just, I think you are a great Auror...and it looks like we need great Aurors, too. Please don't fumble with the least important but most visible part of your work?

Sorry for being a nuisance and best of luck with the inquiry.

Oh it wasn't the official ministry owl or anything I forgot to send. It would have been a personal one. Aunt Amelia instilled in me before she died the fact that all victims are victims regardless of what side. It is important for people who have lost others to know that their suffering has not gone unnoticed, even if their politics are questionable.

My apology. I can see now where you switched from job talk to private above, but my mind just didn't jump along there and instead went right into hideous scenarios on what press or People with Questionable Politics could make out of it and and and...it's a terrible mind, I know that. Once I started it never stops fretting.

I'm sorry.

...and now I feel compelled to check if I really sent my own letters. Maybe they still lie about in the study? Oh, well. I hope not.

Don't you worry. It's your job to think about the press, and rightfully so. Had that been a ministry mistake it would have been completely unacceptable. In my case it's simply a gaffe. Thank goodness.

Sorry, didn't mean to be a bother.

It's just. If you find anything out, yeah?

You're never a bother, Ginny. As soon as I know anything, and submit my report I'll let you know. Thus far nothing has turned up. I don't like this.
