Wow! That looks nothing like what I see out the window! But it is encouraging. :)

Are you neck deep in snow? We're getting our weather patterns from across the pond but have had a mild, very wet, winter so far.

Not neck deep ATM, but there are still large patches of snow sitting around in sheltered areas or where it's been piled high in parking lots. Temps very nice today and tomorrow, and there is sun(!) but by Wed. night it's supposed to be cold and there will be some kind of precipitation (no one is committing him/herself to saying what). But, I think we're at the point where we're going to be having more warm days that cold, and fewer below freezing nighttime temps. My aconites are finally blooming, and a few crocuses (croci?)are blooming in the back where it's south-facing and sheltered by the house. Daffodils are pretty much all visible by now, but no where near ready to make flowers. I haven't even planted pansies yet because up until a few days ago my pansy planters were encased in ice. :)

The pansies in the pot are 'winter flowering'. They've been in bloom, on and off, throughout the winter.

I don't envy you all the snow and cold you've had this year. We've avoided the worst of the gales and the floods. I think our town has its own little micro-climate.

We've had no snow this year (yet) so the grass has been green throughout winter. We had snowdrops and crocus earlier in the year, but no sunshine to show them off.

So do I. I've searched for one like it and they aren't being made any more. I bought this one about 20 years ago in the local garden centre. Modern ones are crude by comparison. I have a smaller one indoors with deeper blue flowers on it. I really need to pot on the houseplant into a larger pot.

I was really surprised, especially as they were fritillary butterflies. Each one would land on the late terrace and I kept going indoors for my camera but each one would be gone by the time I came back.
