Vikings and vampires

Have seen up to 1x03 of The History Channel's Vikings. Loving it! First because of the culture clash between the Vikings and the British, which I find deliciously amusing. Second because of hot-ass Travis Fimmel, who I think is perfectly cast as the cocky and wily Ragnar -- those gorgeous blue eyes! those smirky lips! those cheekbones! Third ( Read more... )

It's a really entertaining show so far. Plus low commitment -- only nine episodes in the first season. Apparently it's The History Channel's first scripted drama series [I understand Hatfields & McCoys was a miniseries]. And while it's probably not big on accuracy, it seems to have had high production values and feels pretty realistic.

I'm enjoying Vikings so much! They already had me in ep 1 when Lagertha beats up those 2 would-be rapists. And then they propositioned Athelstan and it was all over. <3

Gabriel Byrne gets given more to do in 1.04, thankfully.

I KNOW, I can't wait to see more of that trio. This show is just so much more fun than it has any right to be, probably. :-D

Hah, I hear you -- I have never been able to straighten out wtf is going on with the principles of magic on this show. Like, things need to be balanced, okay. Bringing people back from the dead is bad, okay. But then how is it that dead witches get to channel all kinds of shit through Bonnie and use her for their own not-so-pure purposes? No wonder she's basically gone off the edge.

And yet still. WTF, Bonnie, how could you reason your way into killing twelve people?!? Such a clumsily executed dark arc. Agreed it isn't magic addiction or yellow crayon levels of bad just yet, but there's time.

Anyway, I admire your willpower in being able to quit. The last show I rage-quit was Supernatural, when they killed two female characters, so I'm afraid it may have to take that level of awfulness for TVD. *sigh*
