10k Big Bang Summaries

Hello everyone! There are some really great stories up for claiming this year! The deadline has passed and no more rough drafts will be accepted, so here are the summary previews! The actual story claiming will begin on Saturday, July 9th at 12 Noon PDT.

We will be posting both the 5k Little Bang summaries and the 10k Big Bang summaries at the same time, on separate posts, for fanworkers to peruse. The 5k Little Bang post will only be unlocked after all of the 10k Big Bang stories have been claimed.
Authors, please look this post over to make sure your summary and information is correct! If anything is missing or wrong, please PM or email us ASAP, so we can get it fixed right away!!! If you are on the HetBang Discord server, that is also an excellent way to get in contact with us quickly.
You will notice that all usernames have been removed. That is because this is a blind claiming. Please do not tell your fanworker friends who are participating which story number is yours; the idea of a blind claim is to create a collaborative atmosphere. If your fanworker friends know the premise of your story and claim it, that's fine! We don't want hurt feelings due to a story being claimed by someone else, however, as stories are claimed on a first come, first served basis.
All 10k Big Bang stories are guaranteed at least one fanwork. In the event of a pinch hit being needed, we mods will take care of it. However, if you are a fanworker that would be willing to take a last minute pinch and can create art fairly quickly (you would most likely only have a few days to finish the art piece, please keep this in mind), send us an email and we will keep you in mind!
All 5k Little Bang stories are not guaranteed a fanwork. We will do our best to get all stories a fanworker but cannot 100% guarantee a fanwork for the Little Bang stories.
Fanworks come in many different forms! Traditional art, digital art, manips, vids, and fanmixes (with cover art) are all great. After matching is done, talk with your fanworker and see what their skills are!
Fanworkers, you must create at least one fanwork per story you claim. You are free and welcome to do more than one fanwork per story you claim, of course! Just make sure that you can finish fanworks for all of the stories you claim, in the event you claim more than one story.
There are two different ways to claim a story. The first way is to leave a comment on this post, after claims open, and there are a few ways to do this: comment with a LiveJournal account, login with OpenID to comment, or have a friend with an LJ account comment for you. (If your username differs on your LJ/DW or OpenID account from the Ao3 username you used to sign-up, please leave the Ao3 username that was used to sign-up so we can get matching emails out quickly!) If you are unable to comment anonymously, please email us your claims.
The second way to claim a story is by emailing us at thehetbigbang@gmail.com, and listing the story numbers and titles you are claiming. We will do our best to match timestamps so that the first fanworker to claim a story gets it. If you are going to claim via email, do not send your claim choices until after the claiming period has been announced. Email claims that do not follow this rule and come before claiming begins will be disregarded.
During this preview period, fanworkers have the chance to thoroughly look over all the summaries and decide which ones they would be able to create art for. Claiming is done on a first come, first served basis, so it's a good idea to take advantage of this preview window and take note of which stories you want to claim. This way, you won't need to scramble to read summaries and get your claims in, you'll already have an idea of what you want to work on! Try to determine at least 3 fics you can work on, so you can list your top 3 choices. If there are only 2 stories you would like to work on, this is fine as well, but do try to decide on more than one story to work on.
If you are a fanworker that wants to claim multiple stories, you can make note of more than 3 stories to claim, once second claims open up. For first claims, only one story may be claimed per fanworker. When second claims open up on Sunday at around 3PM PDT, the amount of stories a fanworker can claim is unlimited, however, do not claim more than you are sure you can finish!

Stories are claimed on a first come, first served basis. If you can, look over the comments to see if the story you want has already been claimed and then make different choices. (This is why it's handy to take a careful look during the preview period and choose several stories you'd be comfortable to work on!)
Comment here or email us with your top 3 choices, in the order that you want them, stating the number of the summary and the title.

After you make a story claim, we will let you know which story number and title you were successful on, via either the comment you left on this post, or by replying to the email you sent. This could take a few hours, so please be patient!
If you are a fanworker that successfully claims a story and have not signed up, here is the form to do that! We need for all fanworkers to sign up, so that we can get their email addresses to use for author/fanworker matching.
A matching email will go out to both the fanworker and the author containing each other’s contact information after a claim is successful. We plan to start sending these emails out Sunday morning. You should receive this email no later than 72 hours after we have confirmed the claim. If you don't get this match up email, please get in contact with us ASAP so that fanworkers and authors can get to work quickly!
Second claims will open Sunday, July 10th at about 3PM PDT. During second claims, fanworkers that have already made a successful claim can claim additional stories that are still in need of a fanworker.
Once all 10k Big Bang stories are claimed, the 5k Little Bang post will be unlocked and open for claiming. During the first round of claims for 5k Little Bang stories, fanworkers can claim one story, and if there are any remaining stories after 24 hours, a second round of claims will be opened, where fanworkers can claim additional stories, just like in the 10k Big Bang story claims.
If all stories, Big Bang and Little Bang, are claimed before July 16th, mods will consider opening all stories to be claimed by a fanworker twice. 10k Big Bang stories will not need to be claimed first. All 10k Big Bang stories are guaranteed one fanworker only. If all stories go up for second claims, they are not guaranteed more than one fanworker.

Title: Coulomb's Law
Word Count: Around 10-12k total, 9,260 written.

Warnings: There is potential for this ship to later become incest in the show. 24/7 BDSM/power dynamics are a focal point, with a focus on age play/ABDL (but no watersports or scat is in the story). Both main characters are transgender (I don't view that as a content warning so much as a sensitivity warning).
Rating: NC-17/Explicit
Summary: After a drunken night of confessions, Nicholas and Pencilla wake up the next morning with a lot to consider about who they are and what their romantic status is. Pencilla suggests an experiment: trying a 24/7 BDSM relationship. Amidst their day job of trying to stop the Emergency, they come to navigate the highs and lows of BDSM relationships, their relationship with each other, and whether or not this is the type of relationship they truly want.
The series is relatively anachronistic; with no set time beyond the fact that television and the radio have both been invented and are featured in the show.
I take some cues from the books and some cues from the show (for instance, the name Pencilla is used for Number Two in the books), but the bulk of the story relies on the show lore. However, in the books, Nicholas and Number Two are father/daughter, so this could be interpreted as incest, especially since the show is not finished and could declare them father/daughter in later seasons. All sex is consensual, and terms like "clit and cunt" are used for "traditionally female" anatomy, while "cock" is used for "traditionally male" anatomy.

Characters/Pairings: Bucky Barnes/Melina Vostokoff, Bucky Barnes & (Fraction!)Clint Barton
Warnings: descriptions of canon-typical violence and torture (specifically, Bucky's experience with Hydra and Melina's past in the Red Room), specifically descriptions of forced sterilization (MCU canon for Black Widows), although all of this is contained to flashbacks. Also age difference (Melina is underage when she and Bucky first encounter each other) and coercive relationships (neither of them are in full control of their actions when in Hydra/Red Room custody)
Rating: probably will stay as "T" on ao3
Summary: Recently resurrected and conditionally pardoned, Bucky Barnes is at loose ends following the anticlimactic (for him, at least) end of the war against Thanos. When an opportunity to change course from an unexpected ally appears, he jumps at the chance to leave the tangled politics and dubious "help" offered to him by SWORD behind, only to stumble across somebody that he hadn't quite forgotten about, no matter how hard he'd tried. Is it possible to move forward with someone who saw you on the worst day of your life? (You'd think he'd be used to that, by now. Go figure.)
This story takes place post-Endgame and is canon compliant with that film, but not with any properties/stories released afterwards. Based on the premise that Bucky's Red Room affair was with Melina instead of Natasha, it contains references and descriptions of torture, coerced relationships (the Winter Soldier is ordered by his superiors to seduce Melina to test her loyalty), and relationships with an underaged person (although be advised that the relationship is romantic but not sexual during the period they know each other in the Red Room). It will deal rather directly with the effects of this trauma on both of them, years later, as well as everyone's grief for Natasha, Steve, and Tony. It will contain an alternate version of how a lineup of "New Avengers" might come together, and I do a little bait and switching with some of the MCU characters in order to make them align more closely to their comic counterparts (it's funny, I swear). Minor relationships/characters that will appear: Pepper/Tony, (Fraction!)Clint/Natasha, Eli Bradley, (616!)Bobbi Morse, Sam Wilson, Riri Williams, and Morgan Stark.
Also there are chickens. Enjoy.

Summary: The kingdom of Fleuyan began to fall into shambles 6 years ago when the widow queen remarried a cruel and overindulgent lord. After the queen's death, the kingdom is ripe to be conquered by Hilbert the Warlord and his men. They invade the kingdom and execute the king. The only loose end is the kingdom's beloved princess, Solange. Knowing that the people of the kingdom will revolt if he executes her, he forces her into marrying him, knowing that she is loyal to her kingdom and afraid of seeing any more deaths.
Solange expects her new husband to be a brute and a tyrant, but Hilbert keeps a respectful distance from her, and is always polite when speaking to her about their royal duties. As a matter of fact, the greatest obstacle between them seems to be their cultural misunderstandings, which are many. But they are united in their desire to protect the kingdom and the people in it, and perhaps that is enough to learn to live with one another.
The story has a loosely medieval setting. The rating may change depending on whether or not they decide to have sex in the story, but if they do, all sex will be consensual.

Summary:
Home post-war by himself other than Ministry-sponsored healers to aid in his healing, Severus finds himself at his wit’s end with the state of his life. He never intended to survive the war and has no desire to continue with his life. He combines an overdose of an enhanced sleeping draught with a dose of Felix Felicis, wanting to see his true love one last time and determine once and for all if she’s forgiven him before dying. He doesn’t exactly get what he was expecting (which shouldn’t surprise him after all).
Hermione studied to be a healer and is the last of many in a string of healers assigned to war hero and spy Severus Snape once she finishes her training. She knows she can handle his cutting comments and believes he deserves to be treated with more respect than the healers prior to her gave him. She doesn’t count on developing feelings for the man as the first week she is assigned to him turns into months. She is unaware of Severus’ plan or that he is merely biding his time until the Felix Felicis is ready to be taken.
As days turn into months with the same healer, Severus finds himself feeling better and stronger, physically and mentally. The Felix Felicis is done for days, but it isn’t until an argument with Healer Granger where she unleashes some observations that he finally decides to go through with his plan after all.
Will she be able to get through to him? Will Severus accept the witch his experience with Felix Felicis reveals is his true love?

Shaggy is threatened and pursued by mysterious gunmen in a case of mistaken identity. With the help of law enforcement in the form of Daphne Blake, he manages to escape, but can he keep ahead of the determined kidnappers?
Daphne has been hot on the trail of famous actor Michael Lucas, suspicious of his involvement with a high-profile loan shark. She needs to find him, protect him, and convince him to become a witness. Instead, she's stuck babysitting Shaggy Rogers, worried that the trail that leads to Lucas will go cold.
Scooby-Doo's background as a stunt dog in movies is the perfect cover for what he really is - a highly successful biological experiment, kept under wraps in a secret facility that fronts as a stunt animal company. When he sees the chance to escape, he takes it, but he may have jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire when he gambled on trusting Mike Lucas with his secret. All threads lead to Lucas, whose uncanny ability to stay off the radar despite his fame makes him more suspicious as the days go by.
This story takes place primarily in Los Angeles, California, with a few other locations like Paris, France and possibly London, England or New York City as well.
Past mentions of painful experiments on Scooby Doo. Potential scenes of kidnapping, including restraint of characters and minor injury. At least one gunshot wound with life-threatening injury will be in the story, potentially some serious injury may be in the story.

Finding a defensible position in a cave, their next problem is the cold and damp at the high altitude and their lack of supplies. With no idea if the Enterprise or their crew are safe, the tension of the situation changes the delicate balance of their relationship. But Orion raiders are still on their trail and they have no chance to talk, so they must put aside their awkwardness and find a way to survive and get back to Enterprise. When everyone is finally safe and they have that chance to talk, will they take the leap to lovers they both want but are afraid of?

Summary: Lonely, a bit frustrated, and yet still a hopeless romantic despite herself, graduate student Roxane Robin finds herself - completely by accident - in the middle of a love triangle she didn't even know existed until after it was over. How do you trust someone with your heart when he can't bring himself to hold out his hands to take it? Even for Cyrano - a man she admires, and secretly adores just as much - Roxane's not sure she can handle the risk.
A retelling of Cyrano set in modern day academia, based on the interpretations of the characters from the 2021 Joe Wright film. No warnings! Just good old-fashioned swooning romance, with (I hope) a bit more depth given to the much-admired, yet often underlooked Roxane.
You're literally in Italy, Roxane had texted back, laughing to herself. Go look at a statue or something. Ignore me. I was just talking about myself, as usual.
I like talking to you about yourself, Cyrano had texted back. And then, several hours later, he'd sent a somewhat blurry photo of the replica of the Rome She-Wolf, which was a gigantic wolf with equally gigantic teats, with two naked human babies nursing beneath her legs.
Reminds me of a party your father and I went to once, he typed.

Rating: Teen, possibly rising to an M or E
Summary: Rose Tyler has had the easiest of starts to her life. While working at Henrik’s to get by, she has befriended the owner of a local bookshop by the name of John Smith. John is a bit of a mystery to her, but they get on fairly well and the signs point to them steadily getting closer - although neither of them would admit this, of course.
On a spur of the moment, Rose blurts out to her mum that she and John are in fact seeing each other. He is unaware of her outburst until she has to tell him, and they begin a game of maintaining the pretence of a happy and doting couple.
Along the way, Rose loses her job, her past comes back to haunt her and John also runs into some difficulties with his brother. Can they manage to keep up the façade to her friends and family - or is it really a façade after all?
This is a Human AU set in roughly the same time period as series 2. Rose is newly 20, and John, a fully human iteration of the Tenth Doctor, is 22. He has the same level of angst as his Time Lord self (being without actual family, older than he appears, sometimes aloof and withdrawn but also oblivious, etc)
The location is primarily set in John’s rustic bookstore in the backstreets of London’s suburbs. Think of cosy armchairs, books piled hair and no real order to anything, but a real sense of love and enthusiasm for his interest (and a fair heaping of dust)

Title: Reinvention Isn't Such a Bad Thing
Word Count: 21.4k written, may shift a little after editing

Fandom: Sleepy Hollow (TV)
Characters/Pairings: Abbie Mills/Ichabod Crane
Warnings: canon-typical supernatural violence
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Before the fight against Moloch, Ichabod had agreed to Katrina's decision to temporarily self-divorce. But afterward, considering his relationships in more depth, he realizes she was right: they can't fight two wars at once. Too much has changed since the Horseman struck him down and she was sent to Purgatory, and they are no longer anywhere near the same page. So they agree to make the split permanent, and Ichabod begins to explore a deeper connection with Abbie as they navigate the fallout of the abruptly-ended apocalypse. Of course, Abbie has her own reservations, and there are still other forces at work in Sleepy Hollow.
The story is a canon-divergent AU, splitting off from canon during 2.12 "Paradise Lost". It's largely set in the same locations and with similar character looks as canon, with the addition of an apartment (since we never really see Abbie at home before she gets a house in Season 3). On-screen romantic action mostly includes various kissing/necking scenes.

Summary: Between his breakup with Lana and his dad running for State Senate, Clark's life isn't exactly where he imagined it to be. Then to make things worse, all of a sudden, rumors start popping up that Jonathan is having an affair with none other than Lois.
When attempts to track down the source fail, Clark finally breaks and tells a tabloid reporter than he is the one dating Lois. Now they have to pretend to be a happy couple, at least until the election is over.
This is a s5 canon divergence AU, where events from that season happen, just not in the order it was shown.

Summary: Rei has always been loyal to her Princess and she is happy that Usagi and Mamoru once again have found one another again but memories of the Silver Kingdom show an obsession once long forgotten about to awaken. Memories of Endymion's obsession and desire to have both Rei and Serenity return and leaving both Rei and Mamoru reeling.
While Rei seeks and longs to leave those memories in the past best forgotten Mamoru doesn't. The memories have awakened darkness with him and seek to once again reclaim what he considers his and like his past self, he will do so with or without Rei's permission.
Setsuna's father the God Chronos steps in and offers a new start for Rei, Hotaru and Setsuna where their arrival changes everything in Konoha where they each find their soulmate but Endymion's obsession with Rei is something so easily dealt with and will it destroy her new found happiness? Or will Rei's new family fight for her in a way no one else will?

Prince Zachary, unable to stop the sadistic hedonism of his brother, now atop the throne, fled with those few still willing and able to support him. The now waits for the right moment to announce his return, gathering information and allies as he can.
In their idyllic bubble of safety and secrecy, romance blooms.
When the Lord-Governor kidnaps Karigan's father for information on her whereabouts, Prince Zachary is finally moved to step out of the shadows and retake his rightful place upon the throne.

Fanworks come in many different forms! Traditional art, digital art, manips, vids, and fanmixes (with cover art) are all great. After matching is done, talk with your fanworker and see what their skills are!
Fanworkers, you must create at least one fanwork per story you claim. You are free and welcome to do more than one fanwork per story you claim, of course! Just make sure that you can finish fanworks for all of the stories you claim, in the event you claim more than one story.
There are two different ways to claim a story. The first way is to leave a comment on this post, after claims open, and there are a few ways to do this: comment with a LiveJournal account, login with OpenID to comment, or have a friend with an LJ account comment for you. (If your username differs on your LJ/DW or OpenID account from the Ao3 username you used to sign-up, please leave the Ao3 username that was used to sign-up so we can get matching emails out quickly!) If you are unable to comment anonymously, please email us your claims.
The second way to claim a story is by emailing us at thehetbigbang@gmail.com, and listing the story numbers and titles you are claiming. We will do our best to match timestamps so that the first fanworker to claim a story gets it. If you are going to claim via email, do not send your claim choices until after the claiming period has been announced. Email claims that do not follow this rule and come before claiming begins will be disregarded.
During this preview period, fanworkers have the chance to thoroughly look over all the summaries and decide which ones they would be able to create art for. Claiming is done on a first come, first served basis, so it's a good idea to take advantage of this preview window and take note of which stories you want to claim. This way, you won't need to scramble to read summaries and get your claims in, you'll already have an idea of what you want to work on! Try to determine at least 3 fics you can work on, so you can list your top 3 choices. If there are only 2 stories you would like to work on, this is fine as well, but do try to decide on more than one story to work on.
If you are a fanworker that wants to claim multiple stories, you can make note of more than 3 stories to claim, once second claims open up. For first claims, only one story may be claimed per fanworker. When second claims open up on Sunday at around 3PM PDT, the amount of stories a fanworker can claim is unlimited, however, do not claim more than you are sure you can finish!

The series is relatively anachronistic; with no set time beyond the fact that television and the radio have both been invented and are featured in the show.
I take some cues from the books and some cues from the show (for instance, the name Pencilla is used for Number Two in the books), but the bulk of the story relies on the show lore. However, in the books, Nicholas and Number Two are father/daughter, so this could be interpreted as incest, especially since the show is not finished and could declare them father/daughter in later seasons. All sex is consensual, and terms like "clit and cunt" are used for "traditionally female" anatomy, while "cock" is used for "traditionally male" anatomy.

Summary: Recently resurrected and conditionally pardoned, Bucky Barnes is at loose ends following the anticlimactic (for him, at least) end of the war against Thanos. When an opportunity to change course from an unexpected ally appears, he jumps at the chance to leave the tangled politics and dubious "help" offered to him by SWORD behind, only to stumble across somebody that he hadn't quite forgotten about, no matter how hard he'd tried. Is it possible to move forward with someone who saw you on the worst day of your life? (You'd think he'd be used to that, by now. Go figure.)
This story takes place post-Endgame and is canon compliant with that film, but not with any properties/stories released afterwards. Based on the premise that Bucky's Red Room affair was with Melina instead of Natasha, it contains references and descriptions of torture, coerced relationships (the Winter Soldier is ordered by his superiors to seduce Melina to test her loyalty), and relationships with an underaged person (although be advised that the relationship is romantic but not sexual during the period they know each other in the Red Room). It will deal rather directly with the effects of this trauma on both of them, years later, as well as everyone's grief for Natasha, Steve, and Tony. It will contain an alternate version of how a lineup of "New Avengers" might come together, and I do a little bait and switching with some of the MCU characters in order to make them align more closely to their comic counterparts (it's funny, I swear). Minor relationships/characters that will appear: Pepper/Tony, (Fraction!)Clint/Natasha, Eli Bradley, (616!)Bobbi Morse, Sam Wilson, Riri Williams, and Morgan Stark.

Summary: The kingdom of Fleuyan began to fall into shambles 6 years ago when the widow queen remarried a cruel and overindulgent lord. After the queen's death, the kingdom is ripe to be conquered by Hilbert the Warlord and his men. They invade the kingdom and execute the king. The only loose end is the kingdom's beloved princess, Solange. Knowing that the people of the kingdom will revolt if he executes her, he forces her into marrying him, knowing that she is loyal to her kingdom and afraid of seeing any more deaths.
Solange expects her new husband to be a brute and a tyrant, but Hilbert keeps a respectful distance from her, and is always polite when speaking to her about their royal duties. As a matter of fact, the greatest obstacle between them seems to be their cultural misunderstandings, which are many. But they are united in their desire to protect the kingdom and the people in it, and perhaps that is enough to learn to live with one another.
The story has a loosely medieval setting. The rating may change depending on whether or not they decide to have sex in the story, but if they do, all sex will be consensual.

He doesn’t exactly get what he was expecting (which shouldn’t surprise him after all).
Hermione studied to be a healer and is the last of many in a string of healers assigned to war hero and spy Severus Snape once she finishes her training. She knows she can handle his cutting comments and believes he deserves to be treated with more respect than the healers prior to her gave him. She doesn’t count on developing feelings for the man as the first week she is assigned to him turns into months. She is unaware of Severus’ plan or that he is merely biding his time until the Felix Felicis is ready to be taken.
As days turn into months with the same healer, Severus finds himself feeling better and stronger, physically and mentally. The Felix Felicis is done for days, but it isn’t until an argument with Healer Granger where she unleashes some observations that he finally decides to go through with his plan after all.
Will she be able to get through to him? Will Severus accept the witch his experience with Felix Felicis reveals is his true love?

Instead, she's stuck babysitting Shaggy Rogers, worried that the trail that leads to Lucas will go cold.
Scooby-Doo's background as a stunt dog in movies is the perfect cover for what he really is - a highly successful biological experiment, kept under wraps in a secret facility that fronts as a stunt animal company. When he sees the chance to escape, he takes it, but he may have jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire when he gambled on trusting Mike Lucas with his secret. All threads lead to Lucas, whose uncanny ability to stay off the radar despite his fame makes him more suspicious as the days go by.
This story takes place primarily in Los Angeles, California, with a few other locations like Paris, France and possibly London, England or New York City as well.

Even for Cyrano - a man she admires, and secretly adores just as much - Roxane's not sure she can handle the risk.
A retelling of Cyrano set in modern day academia, based on the interpretations of the characters from the 2021 Joe Wright film. No warnings! Just good old-fashioned swooning romance, with (I hope) a bit more depth given to the much-admired, yet often underlooked Roxane.

John is a bit of a mystery to her, but they get on fairly well and the signs point to them steadily getting closer - although neither of them would admit this, of course.
On a spur of the moment, Rose blurts out to her mum that she and John are in fact seeing each other. He is unaware of her outburst until she has to tell him, and they begin a game of maintaining the pretence of a happy and doting couple.
Along the way, Rose loses her job, her past comes back to haunt her and John also runs into some difficulties with his brother. Can they manage to keep up the façade to her friends and family - or is it really a façade after all?
This is a Human AU set in roughly the same time period as series 2. Rose is newly 20, and John, a fully human iteration of the Tenth Doctor, is 22. He has the same level of angst as his Time Lord self (being without actual family, older than he appears, sometimes aloof and withdrawn but also oblivious, etc)
The location is primarily set in John’s rustic bookstore in the backstreets of London’s suburbs. Think of cosy armchairs, books piled hair and no real order to anything, but a real sense of love and enthusiasm for his interest (and a fair heaping of dust)

Too much has changed since the Horseman struck him down and she was sent to Purgatory, and they are no longer anywhere near the same page. So they agree to make the split permanent, and Ichabod begins to explore a deeper connection with Abbie as they navigate the fallout of the abruptly-ended apocalypse. Of course, Abbie has her own reservations, and there are still other forces at work in Sleepy Hollow.
The story is a canon-divergent AU, splitting off from canon during 2.12 "Paradise Lost". It's largely set in the same locations and with similar character looks as canon, with the addition of an apartment (since we never really see Abbie at home before she gets a house in Season 3). On-screen romantic action mostly includes various kissing/necking scenes.
