It's more alcohol oriented than rooftop. Hope OP, if OP ever reads this, doesn't mind. And it's Russia/South Korea. PBTH. And bad title. PBTTHH.It has not been the first time Yong-soo met with Ivan, no, they’ve had years of history together; his people migrated to Yong-soo’s land, and with this their features have mingled. He saw Soviet Union face to face in 1950, behind his sibling’s charging figure; he saw a lingering smile that illustrated madness and pitiful power, a potent alcohol that would wash over his wounds and burn madder than fire ( ... )

Drinks are essential; alcohol is the physical form of humanity. Whether it be full-bodied wine, strong vodka, or a sweet shot of soju, there is no difference for there will never be a substitute to delicious mind-numbing alcohol ( ... )

May 25, 2009; North threatens South Korea for following a US plan. Nuclear weapons are no joke; the Cold War clearly showed the terror it has on people. Nuclear weapons are no joke, Bush had blindly charged into Iraq on an assumption ( ... )

This is a - very unusual pairing, but not one without logic. Thank you for diversifying from the canon and cliche couples on kinkmeme! The Koreas (South AND North - North especially) do not get quite the attention they merit in the fandom, particularly with respect to the inevitably serious facets of their characters.

Also, Russia/S.Korea is a good break from the more common Russia/China fanfiction (although Chinese!anon appreciates her Ivan/Yao too ;D). Good work!

We NEED more odd couples! What's the point of random countries if we always pair the usual together? Gotta take out those ol' textbooks and try to squeeze out every pairing possible.

(ahah I stll love Ivan/Yao as well) Thanks!

I forgot to mention characters may be OOC. Anyway ( ... )

Hm... I wouldn't be quick to say that the characters were OOC, just differently interpreted and portrayed. It was lovely, actually, their interactions with each other and as you put it, something that's not love or romance but it's not hate or indifference either. There's something romantic and random about the fill and it works, just somehow.

I rather like your portrayal of South Korea; you don't get to see him serious very often in fills and if you do, it tends towards angst. His more pragmatic, even bitter side is all the more appealing, though I wouldn't expect him to be this kind to him (my own headcanon is that he's never truly forgiven Russia for the Korean War, or America for that matter). Russia's stark self-awareness and loneliness is absolutely tragic.

An unconventional pairing that's well executed!

I figured that Yong-soo doesn't forgive, but considering the time and his situation there's no point in living in the past. Serious!Yong-soo so needs to be written about more.

I'm all for unconventional pairings~ we need more of those :) glad you enjoyed this

Oh, it's not immediate, I think. Just something that lingers in the back of his mind or in his heart for a while, a very quiescent, almost sleeping sort of thing. He probably mulls on it once in a very great while, when he's feeling "thinky" (a state that I know too well).

Serious!Yong-soo is friggen' awesome. ^_^ Sometimes I feel like I'm one of the few who try to write him like that. And Hetalia is just a goldmine for pairings, particularly those that can be considered "unconventional."

It's nice to see your version of Yong-Soo again. ^^ Yes, I do think I've a vague idea of who you are, considering that you write one of my fav rendition of Yong-Soo ever! Not just the bumbling happy side of him, but something deeper and more developed.

I do agree that it's quite a nice change from the Ivan/Yao pairings (still my OTP though), but you manage to make pairings with Yong-Soo so natural that it clicks nicely. Also, love the fact that you included North Korea.

Love your writings, as usual. Especially the parts with Ivan, Yong-Soo, his brother, and the Cold War. Very nicely done. \o/ And the sunflower pen was really sweet.

“Becoming one doesn’t necessarily have to be geographical.”
Very much agreed, Ivan. ^_^

Ahah you may THINK I am who I am, but maybe you DON'T~ considering I haven't submitted much fanfiction (and few fanart)

Ahah (I love Ivan/Yao as well) and glad that Ivan/Yong-soo clicked here. I've always felt that they could be a pairing as well, just don't know how. North Korea's gotta be included somewhere, it's almost impossible.

(oh crap, did I write North K. as a guy on accident? I meant to make NK gender neutral...oh well).
