Company With Wolves (part 4a) anonymous September 18 2009, 07:29:35 UTC
The silver collar was powerful magic, not just a spell but linked spells wrought together, more powerful combined than the mere sum of their separate strengths. The working of linked spells was impressive enough, but these were not just spells but Spells, great works of magick. Lesser wizards could not even approach a true Spell on their own, much less bend them to their own wills so they could join them together in the shape of a silver collar: he'd used three, three for the sacred number of it, and three that encompassed all he wanted - the Spell of Euroswydd, who had used it to bind Llyr Half-Speech, and the Spell of the Dragons in Dinas Emrys, who had been hidden from the eyes of the world, and the Spell of Gwgon Redsword, one of the Three Gatekeepers. The collar was a marvel and a wonder, and when other wizards heard what England had done they shook their heads and muttered into their drinks and resolved not to face him in open battle ( ... )

America paced the borders of England's land, so close to the etheric lines traced out by the buried talismans that he could feel his hair standing up as if in a lightning-storm, his blood heating in his veins. The moon was full that night, a low-hanging disk as silver as the collar shining on his neck. He was in his beast-form now, padding on silent paws, his tail low and limp and his head bowed. He'd used to try and avoid being in his animal form - it made England nervous, made the rabbit-side of him react badly. Now, for the same reason, America lived in his four-legged shape as much as he could, and the only sounds England heard out of him were growls and howls ( ... )

gaaaaaaaah, why are people so intent on making me cry? ;_____; it's not even the main event yet but i could feel myself tearing up a little nonetheless. england, why have you done such a thing? in chaining someone the more they would want to become free. and america, no love for england anymore? i do love the parallels with the american revolution. on a lighter note, bad friend trio~ plus the rest of the uk jsahdfjsdhf yes!

america as dog-like is endearing. i wanna hear him whiiiiiiine. :3

idk what you mean, captcha, but are you saying boars master's has something to do with the story?

I'm sorry if I made you cry! That wasn't my intent, really. I want to make this a fairy tale with a HAPPY ending, not one of the dark spooky haunting ones. And America still loves England, but he hates him too, for chaining him up - poor puppy's all confused. And so is poor England.

Oh, England. I'm seriously shaking my head at him right now. You want to keep America close to you, so you chain him up and act like you don't give a toss about his well-being anymore. WAY TO GO, bud. It's going to be painful to watch England's plan backfire on him. -.-

I'm thrilled that you're still continuing this fill; I was afraid that it'd become dead. Do keep on writing, even if I know that the following parts won't be nearly as fluffy as the preceding ones.

My apologies for being so long with this; I've got a bad habit of beginning other fills when I'm not done with the ones I started, and so with this (my latest) I'm juggling a fair bunch. But I hope to begin buckling down and finishing now.

It won't be fluffy for a long while, but with so many puppies and bunnies and other animals running around, I have high hopes for injecting high amounts of fluff later.

Aklasdjfhsk. I can't tell you how thrilled I am to see that this fill is being continued! I didn't get a chance to comment last time before the post maxed out, but this is my favorite WIP on the meme right now. Fairy-tale prose can be hard to get right, but yours is hypnotic. I love the style, the alternate universe you've created, the characterizations -- everything. Thank you so much for posting this lovely story, and I'm very much looking forward to future parts! ♥

And can I tell you how thrilled I was to get this comment? What a way to start the day. I have lots of fun but also lots of difficulty to wrestle the words this way and not (I hope) sound too purple-prosey. So I'm just grinning and wiggling in delight here because of someone saying they liked it. *saves comment to look at on rainy days*

Thank you so much for continuing this fill!

I just love the small details in this. Though I admit, I could not relate to any of the magical stuff there. XDDD

What can I say? They're breaking my heart. As they say Englang - If you love someone, set them free. If they come back then you're meant to be.
But it will be difficult with America's anger and England's pride. D:

huh, just wanting to point out: "The moon was full that night" and then "so that the multi-colored feathers caught and reflected the sun's light"

apart from that, the story is great

I love this so much, and searched high and love for the continuation. Cannot wait for more; this is pretty much my favourite fill.
