Matthew gently moved his paintbrush over the canvas, the lighting in the room coming from just the overhead light he had in the little apartment he shared with his brother. He was painting a still-life. A picture of the collection of leaves that he had organized on a piece of white paper next to him. Each one different, each one showing a different phase of a leaf’s life. A maple leaf’s life. He didn’t know why he liked maple leaves so much to paint, but he did know he liked them, they meant something to him. Though he didn’t know what exactly.

I liked it a lot! Have to say, Alfred-as-painter was kinda surprising (though his choice of subject was not, lol). Matthews so cripplingly uncertain and unconfident....I hope he starts feeling better about his work, I ached. I'm looking forward to the next bit, please update soon!

I'm glad you guys like it, but it may take a little while for me to get the next part out since I just got back from an anime con and it's now Nanowrimo. So, I'll try to get it out ASAP ^^
