Really quick request summary: Romano meets Alfred and thinks he is a she. He tries to get 'her' to act lady like and develops a crush. Then Spain takes him back home and Romano promise to return to her one day.
So this fic developed a mind of its own and diverged a bit, so you get chibi, teenage, and present day Romano thinking Alfred is a girl.

Late 1500s
TexasAntonio was going to be pissed at him for running away but Romano refused to spend anymore time with those girls. He wasn’t even sure how many of them there were anymore and they all spoke in different languages. What was with the New World and producing girls? Spain hadn’t found a single boy on the mainland yet. Romano wouldn’t to play any of the ridiculous, girly games and was tired of sitting around bored. If Antonio could go wandering around, so could he ( ... )

--The country America looks like is Finland, of course.
-- Nizhoni is a Navajo name, or at least, I am hoping it is. So she would be Navajo(or more accurately Diné)-tan. I know little bordering on nothing on Native American cultures, so forgive me if the not shaking/kissing hands thing is inaccurate.
--While there are many theories to the exact origin of the name, many history books (especially for kids) say Amerigo Vespucci and guess what? He is Italian. And “America” is apparently the feminine (and Latinized, I think) version of his name (or so said a History channel Special.)
This is my first time doing a fill and I already hate the character limits.

Anyways love this fill so far anon! Haven't seen a romano/america yet so this is really refreshing from the usual. Plus I like how you set the timeline to 1500s, it's an interesting approach!

Very cute so far (I like that America is refered to as 'she' through Romano's perspective. And he's being so darn polite! Adorable!) and you've really done thorough research. Props, props and mega!props over and over to you!

Thank you for the encouragement (and the Native American resource)!
To OP: I am glad you like it! He's polite for now...but add in getting upset and Spain and he loses that a bit. And then the plans I have for teenage years...well, he tries to be polite for America :)

--Fernanda would be Mexico/New Spain.
--I use “Azteca” to represent the Nahuatl speaking peoples even though Aztec technically refers to the people of Tenochtitlan. I was going to call her Mexica (after the name the Aztecs called themselves, Mexica Tenochca) but I thought that would get confusing for my poor headcanon. (But the history of Mesoamerica is confusing anyway when you are learning it in Spanish and English at the same time.)

Ah, I kind of forgot that was part of his name. I remembered Carriedo but not Fernandez! I just used the feminine version of the King of Spain at the time of Cortez's conquering of the Aztecs.

"Shit? What's that?" or "I like calling you Romo!"
So funny, and great historical accuracy. I hope you write other stuff on this kink!
