"Nation A [Cuba] finds Nation B [Canada] sitting outside in a torential downpour, thoroughly depressed and convinced that no one likes him. A takes B home and takes care of him with dry clothes, blankets, hot chocolate, cuddling, etc. and proves to him that someone, namely A, does love him."

At least 2nd fill. And, yes, anon is the queen of unimaginative titles.By late evening, the steady drizzle had escalated into a dark, heavy rain. Cuba sat by his window, sipping coffee as he watched the rain tear up the dirt road into a murky soup. Cuba liked a rain like this, when it was enough to break the heat, but not enough to constitute a potentially disastrous storm. It was a pause, a break to breathe without feeling the constant humidity pressing down on him like a warm, sodden wool blanket ( ... )

“I-he just got mad all of a sudden, and, and, then he left, and I came here,” Canada finished. He hid his face in his coffee cup and burrowed against Cuba’s side.

“Querido…” Cuba struggled to find something to say. “America’s wrong, you know that, Canada. You’re not nothing. You’re the second biggest country in the world.”

Canada remained troublingly silent. He gave a tiny shiver. Cuba stretched out to grab a quilt from the side of the bed and pulled it over the pair of them. He cuddled and cradled Canada like a baby.

“America’s…” Cuba tried to find the right words, not too harsh. “He’s… not thinking clearly.” As usual, he added to himself. “I’m sure even he doesn’t mean it.” Canada still stubbornly refused to respond. Cuba shook his shoulder a little. “Canada ( ... )

He was still very cold. Cuba held him tighter, trying to warm Canada’s body with his own as he deepened the kiss, pushing into the only warm part of Canada. After a moment, he hoisted Canada up by his hips and off the ground, carried him over to the sofa and sat down. He pulled Canada into his lap and held the other country close to him ( ... )

A-authoranon... *wibbles* Cuba forcing down his hatred for America to make Canada feel better was so sweet and... a couple falling asleep in each other's arms happens to be another one of my kinks. I think...I think I love you a little.

I love love LOVE the Cuba/Canada fics *_* It's such a cute pairing.

Though I wish you didn't have to villainize America just for the sake of giving Canada a reason to run away, author!anon. America says stupid stuff without realizing he's being stupid. He's not one to be purposefully mean like that, especially not to Canada :\

Thanks, anon!

I realized that not everyone would like America in this fic, and I suppose he is a bit (maybe a big bit) ooc. Though, I hope that I did enough to show him being sorry afterwards-- my personal headcanon about America, being that after 9/11, he became extremely paranoid, which I tried to show here. In this anon's defense, I had just read a rocky bit in my history textbook when I wrote this, and was feeling a bit down on my country.

Still, he is certainly ooc, and I'm sorry if anyone feels I defiled their favorite character. (Sorry for the essay, as well!)
