Oblivious!America's not so Oblivious anonymous October 8 2009, 20:55:44 UTC
In which America is not -in accordance with canon, really- oblivious to England's feelings for him at all, but rather, pretends to be because, despite how much England tries, America just doesn't love him in a romantic way, but doesn't want to hurt him with the truth.

Anything with this background concept, anons~

Bonus: I'd prefer if this didn't end in America suddenly realizing that "he's always subconsciously loved Iggy 8D" because I hate that cliche sooo much, and am rather tired of stupid!America having to make it up to poor-ikle-UKe!Iggy

Bonus: If America actually has feelings for someone else, but because he does love England (just like a father or a brother) and knows it would hurt him, he decides not to pursue a relationship with them. Or anything all bittersweet.

Wow, thanks. I apologize that I haven't posted in a while. I'm trying to finish up another story that I started a day or two after this one. But since I have a definite end in sight for that one, I can get the crack out of my system and give this the serious attention it deserves ( ... )

Francis frowned slightly as he watched Alfred and Arthur talking. It was more forced and awkward than usual, though to the untrained eye they were the same as ever. He looked over at Matthew, who was standing beside him, watching the same scene. “You’re not the only one who thought they were a couple, Matthieu. Do not feel embarrassed ( ... )

Once, he had put his heart on the line and confessed his feelings. And in two words, he had been so thoroughly crushed, they may as well have declared war on him.

In the end, they'd narrowly avoided it.

"I'm sorry." Ivan watched in stunned silence as Alfred looked at him with something he really wanted to think was longing, before he closed his eyes and turned, walking away. The war had finally ended, and allies had turned their backs on him. He turned his back on him.

The sun was out that day, but the wind blew cold right through to his core. Ivan wasn't naive or oblivious. He was very capable of reading the atmosphere; in most cases he was the one who created it. Every time the nations met, he would sit and observe the others. The thing that stood out the most to him, was that Alfred F. Jones was just a good an actor as his people in Hollywood. (...the better ones anyway ( ... )

I haven't checked this in a while and I find 2 updates! Yea! (I'm the one that commented about the different perspectives for part 6.)

I love blunt, a bit clueless Canada and advice giving, philosophical Francis. Does Francis know who America likes ( ... )

Arthur frowned as he worked his way through the crowd, wondering why he had agreed to come, caught up in his emotions at the time of the invite or not. It wasn't like he hadn't been invited to Alfred's birthday before, he just always refused to go. It was a bitter reminder of that day ( ... )

"Free as the eagle..." He set the statue back and put the box aside, and Arthur's breath caught in his throat as he felt arms moving around him, holding him closer. "Thank you, Ig--Arthur."

Perhaps it was the way he had said it, or maybe the way the hug was warm and inviting and stiff and withdrawn all the same, but somehow, Arthur knew that -without saying a word- he had set Alfred free again. Free to admit he loved him, as he thought he did? Free to love someone else as Francis saw it? Their relationship was about to change, but would it be the way he wanted it to?

Arthur wasn't so sure he wanted to find out anymore.
