Another glance to the instructions and then the kit again, as much as she wanted them to the words didn't seem to be changing anytime soon, ink stubbornly permanent. She was pregnant. Pregnant. What was she going to do? She couldn't have a baby, she was in her final year of university, she had her whole life ahead of her! Alma needed to get her diploma, a steady career and preferably a husband or at least long-term steady relationship before this happened to her. Not a one-off sympathy shag from her ex's brother on the night of their breakup. This was surely the most fucked up thing that had ever happened to her, absolutely the worst ( ... )

I love this so far, just so you know. It looks like it's going to come out really well.

And Matt/Alma would be awesome (personally love USUK, but UKCan doesn't get enough love, and Matt looks like he'd be adorable in this).

I love you!

And yes, I don't mind an AU it's beautiful.

Still rooting for Canada/UK, oddly enough, even if US/UK is my OTP.

And oh, oh, Alfred, you idiot. And Mattie! Oh God they're both idiots.

I'm glad you like! I tried to give options to the pairings you originally stated, though I'm afraid I can't write Russia well, so I put her as a side-character instead.

Canada/UK is vastly underappreciated, one of the things that caught my interest with this prompt. And indeed, silly idiotic boys. This shall be a lesson in maturity for all of the characters involved.

The doctor it seemed was involved in the conspiracy against her.

Alma lowered the phone slowly from her ear, hitting the button to cut off the man's voice, "-should make an appointment to discuss your options, Miss Kirkland. Miss Kirkland...? Miss--The young woman hunched her shoulders against the cold and slid the mobile into her coat pocket, looking grouchily across the paved courtyard for the student housing building she lived in. It looked like any shred of hope and dignity she had were out the window. Leaning back against the wall, she grouchily wished for a fag or a drink but in her current condition she could do neither. Now she was carrying a baby inside her and had no idea what to do about it ( ... )

This floor had five rooms, two unoccupied. In one was Alma, the next door over was her best friend Keiko, a first generation English-Japanese girl whose parents had moved to England when she was two years old. They met in their first year of university, Keiko studying Computer Gaming Technology and Alma European History. Based on their courses alone they shouldn't have been friends, but both were quiet, organised and focused people (well, minus when Alma got drinking or angry) and they found common ground together through their love of culture and tradition. Keiko was the kind of person who insisted her visitors remove their shoes despite having lived in England most of her life when they came into her room and Alma would fuss over anyone making a mess.

If it weren't for the two of them the kitchen here would likely be a mess of dirty dishes and rotting food, their other floormate was not nearly so neat as they. Heracles Karpusi liked to sleep, he liked to sleep a lot. In fact Alma had no idea how on earth he managed to fit doing any ( ... )

She unlocked the door with the key from her pocket, entering the plainly decorated room, containing not much more than a single bed, desk with her laptop and stationary supplies piled neatly on top of it, a chair and the small battered dressing table; barer now that a lot of her photographs had been removed from it. Most but not quite all of them had been thrown into the bin and what she'd kept were locked securely away from where they could be seen. It had been more difficult than she'd thought to purge her room of Alfred, all the little things he had given her as gifts over their time together fought to stay in her hands. But they were now hidden if not thrown away, all but a small stuffed toy rabbit that laid eternally on her bed ( ... )

The main university campus was situated next to a river that ran through the city. Naturally to take advantage of the natural scenery, the benches that lined the walkway alongside that river were a favourite spot of students to enjoy good weather, relax or simply rest their feet inbetween trekking from their residences and the various university buildings spotted around the city ( ... )

He'd been treated to his brother's spluttering as he attempted to defend himself then. The arguement had worsened from that point. Comments flying between the two of them and after Matthew made a comment about how Alfred was just like their father -- something he regretted the instant after he'd said it -- the younger brother had hurriedly left the room to let them both calm down ( ... )
