Not!English Canada

Okay. So you all know how England beat France, so France handed over Canada. It's a very basic fact of history.
What if it never happened? Or it was someone other than England that won Canada? Seriously, anons, go wild with this. 'cause imagine the possibilities: Canada raised by France to nation-hood. Or Spain. Or China. Or Russia. Or hell, Italy.
TL;DR: Canada raised by someone that isn't England.

Sorry, author!anon fails. Above should be "The Northern World [1a/?]".
"Papa?" Canada kept asking, even when France set him on his own feet next to England. The British nation immediately grabbed Canada's arm to prevent him from escaping. If France would have looked at him at that very moment, he would have seen victory flashing through emerald. But his attention was only on Canada.
"Qu'est-ce que c'est?" Canada asked and looked at France with wide and so very lost eyes, looking for help.
"Shush, mon trésor," France slowly let go of Canada's hand and younger let his own hang on air, reaching towards his now former caretaker.
"Papa!" Canada yelled when France walked past them, towards village.
"I also will leave this land immediately, Angleterre," France said over Canada's pleas for him to stay. He didn't stop walking. "See you in Europe."
"Yes, frog," England murmured and tightened his grip of now struggling Canada. "See you."
"Tu salaud!" Canada shouted and turned to England, glaring at him fiercely, held back tears

"Me to England. I run," Canada told him, tears threatening to start fall from his eyes again. Russia's gloved hand caressed his cheek and he looked at Canada sadly.
"That must be terrible, little one," larger nation sighed. "Maybe I can arrange something. Do you want to go back to France?"
Canada shook his head. "I hate. Do want not. He betray I."
Russia continued looking at him with those sad eyes in silence, until he finally said: "This is selfish, but maybe you can stay with me until I figure something out. Would that be fine with you?"
"...I can?" Canada asked, a little surprised. He hesitated.
"Oh God, Canada!" France sighed. "You're such a mess. What have you been doing

"M-mister Russia," Canada said with a shaky tone, even more uncertain of his English when all of the three nations were looking at him. He swallowed. "You... not hurt they? Please?"
While England muttered something along lines "so you taught him English after all", Russia observed the little boy that was pressed against his lower body and smiled, that smirk taking a thoughtful and even slightly amused form.
"My little one," Russia stated, the first word of his sentence making France shudder in disgust and England stare at him with unreadable eyes. That smirk widened. "You wouldn't want that, would you? Why are you then suggesting it?"
Canada stared at those amused, purple eyes. For a second, he was reminded about sky - was it before sunrise or after sunset? He wasn't even sure at the moment.
"I not suggest," he whimpered. "Why you say?"
Russia chuckled and looked at France and England once again. France almost took an unconscious step backwards, but he was frozen on his place, not daring to sever his eyes from Russia and his

How much do I love you? There's too many ways to count. This is exactly what I wanted. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I'm seriously nearly speechless right now.
Russia... and Canada... I have to admit I was hoping you would pick Russia. Italy would have been a barrel of laughs but Russia is who I was hoping for.

Few important notes before anything. At first, thank you for comments and I'm so happy that OP liked the first chapter! That was the most awesome comment that I've gotten in long time, thank you! ♥ But also, after doing some research, I noticed the fail in previous chapter. Back then, in 1763 when the Treaty of Paris was signed (and when Canada was officially given to England) Canada was still called New France, so obviously the name "Canada" didn't exist yet. Sorry, I should have done my research better before writing the first chapter, I promise to keep track of these things before posting rest of the fic. Also, I noticed that I didn't translate the French that was used in the first chapter. But they aren't important for the plot, so I hope... it doesn't... matter...? And a small side-note for this chapter: I didn't know what I should call America, because "The United States of America" became his name only in 1776, almost ten years after this part. So I decided to just call him America. AND ALSO, because I'm busy in real life, I

Two years after Russia's colonization of Canada, in 1765
England scribbled his name down on the paper, that had lots of text, written in very pompous sentences and exquisite language, half of it important and other half just great words and big lies. He observed what he had written down for a moment - The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Arthur Kirkland - before handing the sheet to Russia, over the desk that separated them. The northern nation accepted it, smirk not leaving his face for a split second. He wrote his name under England's in Cyrillics but also in Western alphabets - Российская Федeрация, Иван Брагинский; Russian Federation, Ivan Braginski - and laid the sheet down on the table. Both of them stared at it for a few moments, until Russia broke the silence

Chilling. Suddenly I'm worried about the what Canada's going to be like under Russia's control. If he turns out like Ivan... UN meetings will be interesting if this gets that far.
This made me very happy. Can't wait for the next part!!
