America and Russia actually had very good relations up until Russia went communist -- but what if America had chosen to follow his friend's lead and went communist in 1922? IMHO, it's not so far-fetched ("All men are created equal", for example, could easily be seen as supporting communist ideals). America doesn't become part of the Soviet Union, but instead becomes the United Socialist States of America, a USSA to join the USSR and the PRC.

This would have massive affects on history-- the Korean War and the Vietnam War wouldn't have happened like they did, for example, nor would the space race, or World War II (Japan would be caught in a vice between all three communist superpowers). So what happens? Do America, Russia, and China form a happy OT3 of World Domination, or will there be an Ameri-Soviet or Ameri-Sino split ala the Sino-Soviet split?

Does requester anon have any problems with America going communists a few years after 1922? I need some sort event to happen to trigger America to turn towards Communism. That could take time.

... it's fine if it's not in 1922 proper, but I don't want another America-is-conquered-by-Russia AU, but a story in which America willingly goes communist, following Russia's example. Setting it during the Great Depression would be fine (possibly the catalyst that makes Alfred go "hmmm, maybe Ivan has the right idea?") but I'd really like to see the alternate World War 2 in which Russia, China, and America are all communist.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I was going to use the Great Depression as the spark. (And re-write FDR as the first USSA dictator) So don't worry, Alfred would never let himself be conquered.
Rest assured, if all goes as planned, this WWII will be very interesting...

Oh jeez. Why do I have a feeling that with America's "I want to fix everyone!" attitude, he might be even more aggressive than Russia?
