...so here's two prompts for the price of one.

England’s been leading America on for God knows how long, with suggestions, blushing and flirting; but in his eyes, the whole thing is sustained by the fact that it never goes anywhere, that they’re always at that Will They Or Wont They state, and should that change…America, superpower golden boy America, with that out of the way , that one thing he never managed to get from England, would surely dismiss him forever.

Alternatively, the opposite situation:

America has been leading England on since The Revolution with innuendo followed by callous letting down, all Master of The Mixed Message that he is; but the whole thing stands on the fact that England, Old Britain, the Godamned British Empire who’s been in everyone’s bed, has never truly been in his; and should that change…with that final, ultimate conquest, England would smugly ignore him forever
