“Alfred, um, we’re out of flour again... and milk.... eggs too...” Lithuania stared blankly into the fridge. Is the recession really this bad? He hasn’t struggled this much since the depression...“I know. We’ll have to make due.” Alfred sat at their kitchen table, looking listless and tired. Congress had kept him out all day and very late into the night discussing, as America so eloquently phrased it, “Fucking healthcare and fucking war”. Lithuania had cleaned the house more than once throughout the day, and everything had been spotless. After all, now that he was independent again he was happy to work for his former boss and as such didn’t want to be lazy. Unfortunately every time the two came together the economy drug them apart

Lithuania felt a chill in the air and shivered. There was something foreboding in that last statement that made him want to back off on his familiarity. He wanted to assure Alfred he still knew his place. Employe and friend- in that order

Alfred wouldn’t say anything for a long while. He just stared at his food silently, as if willing it to multiply. There was tension in the air as the two men looked off into different directions, each following different trains of thought. Lithuania was wondering if he still remembered how to lock his door. America was wondering if he could sell the car and still make enough of a profit to keep them in their house for a while

what an excellent story! and you made it utterly believable, which is chilling. I love the paralelism with Russia, how America slowly becomes that which he hates, by disillusionment and frustration at himself. I wish you continue this, because it's great
Happy OP here

Late reply is late, and I should be punished for it. But Author-anon, Thank you so much, I thought my request would never get filled.
I'm so happy with your character of America, because I have an extreme fondness for Yandere!Alfred. The very first section is absolutely perfect for me, being that I always enjoy reading about America's economic troubles and just plain seeing him being serious :'D
His angry people took his voice from him as he let out a racial slur that didn’t make the slightest sense in the given situation, “In America, we speak english, you fucking mexican!”I enjoyed this line very much. It's sort of headcanon for me that part America still holds contempt for other races

Time period or situation doesn't matter. Surprise me you awesome anons, you.
