America confesses to England, England says “yes”…
…but he was lying.
England doesn’t love America like that; he only loves him like his little brother, almost-son. He thinks that accepting is the only way in which he can be close to America again, even though he doesn’t want the sex and the passionate kisses (the platonic ones he treasures). He’s just glad to be able to be around him. Ouch.
England can’t really stand the situation anymore and is stressed out. France notices and gets him to a bar, England gets drunk and tells him everything.
You can now take this three ways, anons:
1)England realises he’s gone about this all wrong and is only hurting them both and tells America. America can be hurt but accept it -perhaps after a conversation with France of his own- or not accept it and force himself on England trying to make him feel “the love
( ... )
I'm a sap for a happy ending; I'd suggest that you put them on the brink of complete emotional destruction (as another anon said) and then pull them back together again somehow. Not necessarily in an 'I love you so much let's go get married' way, but a sort of hope that maybe it can work out for them in the end. (Perhaps England having guilty inklings of true love that he can't understand?)
Such a beautifully heartbreaking fic. Wonderful, wonderful job.

I'm very curious to see where this is going. So far, this story feels so emotionally realistic it hurts. Not a cheerful story at all, but I'm going to keep reading. It's well done!

Ahaha, I knooow who you are, angst-loving-anon~ <3
This is such an wonderfully angsty, bittersweet fill anon~ Its really wrenching to see Alfred so happy even while Arthur, the person he loves most, is so miserable.
You've done a really great job of capturing the mixed emotions--I really liked that you're includingboth of their POVs for this story; it really helps the reader get an understanding of the situation on both of their sides.
Poor Arthur...he tries to fool himself but he isn't all that fooled, really. Which makes this believable in a very hurtful way Also, Alfred's chapter was a winner move. It immediately made us feel sympathy for him, and also believe why he'd be fooled, because Arthur's doubts and consequent actions are subtle and really, if you're in love you wouldn't suspect a thing. Poor fools! I wonder what Alfred's reaction will be the thw whole thing... ...but I'm getting ahead of myself and I hope it doesn't come soon. Continue delivering excellent hurtful chapters, anon!! ;)
Ouch, this fic hurts so good. Poor Arthur, being such a private person, he wouldn't seek help or even counsel. Good thing Francis, for all his meanness at times, really cares about him and is very observant
Poor Al! He's so happy and brights up just being in England's presence...I feel so bad for both of them...it was nice seeing England questioning why he couldn't feel attraction toward Alfred, being handsome and all...I also liked when you mentioned that nobody wanted to get in the way of America and England's relationship, and I liked the way you described England's body language, particularly during his conversation with France. Nice!

The warmth would fade and that heavy hollowness that was fast becoming familiar would settle back over him, swallowing him whole.
This is a gorgeous sentence; I don't think I've ever seen such a good description for this kind of emotion. So much love! <3
(and I'm not sure yet if this is going to have a happy or sad ending...)
I ... actually don't have a strong preference either way; I'm just interested in seeing where the story takes you. And us! ;D
