I just read that the handover of Hong Kong happened at the END OF JUNE. So, that's, um, not exactly a good time for England anyway, just a few days before America's birthday. Please can there be a fill based on that year, combining England's 4th July symptoms with how he feels about losing Hong Kong? Would love USUK please, it seems to fit this theme!

Transfer of sovereignty over Hong Kong from the UK to China happened on the July 1, 1997, actually. Which is incidentally also Canada Day! It's a busy time of year.

"It was an internationally televised event with the ceremony commencing on the night of 30 June 1997, and finishing on 1 July 1997", wiki says! I read it was June 30th, didn't know until now that it somehow spanned two days, lol.

Ouch. Dealing with the loss of three colonies during the same time... No wonder he breaks down before the 4th of July... It's only the final drop big slump of water...
