There is this USUK fill, called Misplaced Soil. (http://hetalia-kink.livejournal.com/15769.html?thread=39299481#t39299481 ) It is beautiful and every morning I pray I get to read an update from the author. And it has this tear-jerking part, which I only stopped crying over because the author assured me it would have a happy ending, where Al and Art break up over Afghanistan. It inspired this thing. The only connection is the break-up, but I recommend you read it first. Not because you need to, just cos it’s awesome.

He insists - quietly, without heat - that the other Nations refer to him as the United States. America, he notes pedantically, is too broad a term. He has no human name

Arizona Protocol. Ouch.
You know, whenever I read fics about America dying or going crazy or acting like a huge asshole, I always feel the most sympathy for Canada. Does that make me a bad American?
Thanks, authornon, this was fabulous like a punch in the gut.

OMG ANON, YOU READ MY MIND.
But Nations can’t stay together, and when one moves away, the other one… falls.

Srsly, this is just my headcanon. I've always thought that America could go mad and disappear when/if England left him alone, because I think that England is like his support (and considering that the world almost turned its back on him after the wars and the recesion). I don't think America could be able to stand it for much and he would... go crazy. Or maybe I've read too many dystopic books where things go really wrong and I can't help but think that this could happen in Hetalia.
It thrills me to read a fill with this theme <3 (as much as I love Alfred, even if it doesn't seem so orz). And what else can I say? I just loved it to bits <3

Ahahaha, wow, what a lovely nice long comment. *purrs* And yeah, America seems that kind of needy to me. I mean, look how he clings to England in both RL and Hetalia canon. A friendly Nation like that, who wants to be everyone's hero, "living long enough to see himself become the villain"? When I say America is like a dog, I mean it in the best, "aww who's a good boy" tail-wagging way possible, but also in the "dogs go nuts if you leave them alone too long" way.
I'm really glad you liked it, and thank you for the comment.
I do feel bad about ending it so abrupt, but I haven't got even the faintest idea where to go from there. I haven't even really decided where America is - is he dead, in another form, insane and chained up?

Guilty as charged. Was it the underscores? I started out with italics but midway, I wrote this at like 4AM you understand, I was drifting and used them by, like, default. OTL

*blows nose*
Might have been the underscores.
But it was the rampant new discussions provoked by every comment you make. :P
This fic raises questions. Is the new "United States" the ENTIRE United States? And I don't like the new US either. He's an asswipe.
Because I always figured if the U.S. went through another revolution, it's going to break up into more than one country because it would be too hard for a new government to control the dividing forces in it. But then again that's injecting my headcannon into another fic. :D
