England thinks America is an idiot duh, partially because America does act like a complete imbecile 90% of the time, but also because he had an incredible amount of difficulty trying to teach colony-America to read and write. Eventually, he just gave up out of sheer frustration, because America was just Not Getting It.
Centuries later, England discovers that America's not really an illiterate moron - he's dyslexic. Cue guilt over being so harsh with him.
Pairings are not necessary and totally up to anon although I wouldn't say no to USUK. :D
(I'm not even sure where this came from, but I thought I'd throw it out there)

This. Thirded.
I've dealt with kids who are dyslexic, and my mother is as well. She still has issues sometimes and gets kind of upset when I point out that she's made a mistake. She pretty much was called an idiot all of her childhood because of it.
... kind of makes me feel bad since I can read even upside down and sideways without difficulty. ;_;

England had needed to discus something with America, and had found said American in his temporary offices in London. Until England cleared his throat, making the American jump
