Serious Germophobia: Germany or Austria suggested anonymous July 18 2010, 07:17:23 UTC
Nation A develops germophobia while in a relationship with Nation B. Nation A previous to this has been "germ aware", but not phobic. Nation B fails to understand what Nation A is going through, even taking it as a joke at the beginning. Anon thinks Germany or Austria would be particularly vulnerable to developing a phobia of germs, but anyone anon thinks would work would be fine.

Bonus for a mild prank or a mundane task which results in a severe panic attack.
Bonus for Nation A knowing that they are acting irrationally and willing to admit it, yet unable to stop themselves.

(Anon has seen the Prussia/Austria request which nearly hits on this topic, but feels that a better job could be done for what she wants, as amazing as that request was.)

This anon has germophobia and really wants an accurate representation of it... but doesn't want to fill own request. Anon would of course be very willing to discuss symptoms and impact with writer!anon, potential or otherwise, and why germophobia is different from other phobias and, thus, why ( ... )

Would it start as something small like having to wash hands after touching something that isnt dirty before every meal or before any food is touched? That be interesting if it starts small because their friends/lover may notice slight changes (or might not since they are both kinda germophobic) in the beginning which would lead to more problems/changes. Wouldn't the nation end up needing therapy? What if during that (or before) its found out that its not just because of germophobia but because of what they did. Like Germany constantly cleaning his hands/things not just because his scared of germs but subconsciously trying to get rid of the innocent blood his country spilled in WWII?

Hope someone fills this. ^^

Yes, it does usually start out small. They're "germ aware" is how it starts, which is where they worry about it more than regular people worry about it. When it starts interfering with their life, it becomes germophobia.

It's possible to treat germophobia without therapy, but it's certainly helped me. If that was Germany's reason for it, obviously to really count as germophobia it would have to become an obsession with keeping everything clean. If that were the case, it's likely that during a panic attack his way of trying to calm himself down would be washing his hands, even if it's his are that he perceives at dirty.

I really hope this gets filled, too. ;-;
