Prussia finds out that he's slowly fading away-literally- after being part of Russia for so long. Apparently, when a country is conquered by another country for a long period of time, they start to fade away and die, and this process is quicker the faster people forget about the nation.
Russia never knew about this, and goes through a stage of depression and then snaps after realizing that Prussia's starting to fade away too, like all the other nations he had taken over permanently.
BONUS 1: All the other nations(except Russia) start to forget who Prussia is- including Germany. BONUS 2: Prussia starts to lose his memories later on.
