You Take Me In (1/?)

He had assumed that America wasn't in much of a mood to talk. Prattling, enthusiastic chatter-box the boy could be, even the younger nation had his pensive moments. Those were usually in the wake of a thunder storm or some particularly heavy showers. England couldn't deny the effect that rain had on his own state of mind. It was, after all, a reoccurring theme in their relationship. It fell on days where something between himself and the United States would happen; something life altering or memorable. He was quite certain the other nation sharing his bed held the same opinion as he of this natural dramatic timing, but America never spoke a word of it. And England could never ask

At that, his eyes tore away from the ceiling and fell into a deep frown as he turned he sat up to stare down at his former charge with what he hoped was his “cut the shite” face. “You had a point, America. I suggest you make it quickly

His eyes nearly bulged out of his head when America asked him. “F-find out out what?”
“What could have been,” America breathed- he sounded like he was having trouble with that. Breathing. England couldn't blame him.
“America, do you know what it is you're asking for?”
Somewhere inside himself, he already knew the answer, but it didn't stop that guilt from gnawing in the back of his mind, compelling him to ask for America's sake. More truthfully, for England's own sanity.
A hand on his cheek and a small smirk from America effectively cut off all though processes. “That's such a stupid thing to ask.”
England allowed himself a wry smile. “No such things as stupid questions.”

This looks so promising, anon, but is it weird that my favorite part is the amusing symmetry of their two little exchanges about stupid questions? ♥ You've got a nice dynamic going between these guys already. :)
Oh, authoranon, thank you. This could easily have just been a PWP with superficial characterizations or a vague setting where both characters are so totally over the past this doesn't make them uncomfortable, or isn' even an issue. But you gave us characterization, excellent characterization, good dialogue, believable setting for the prompt, very interesting dynamic between the characters, a cranky and 'old-ish' but still sexy England and a fascinating America. And the end was strangely enticing, I simply can't wait to read more...especially the sex, because it looks delicious with your writing, but also the themes you're exploring, England's guilty desire and longing, America's wistfulness and contemplative remarks, the ocean of sexual tension they manage to have even when they are together, projecting it into the past
“There's not such thing as a stupid question.”
This made me smile, it's so America! The paralelism at the end was lovely too ^^

The meeting was longer than usual, and somewhere in the two hours England spent sitting in one spot, legs crossed and arms folded, his limbs started to lose sensation whilst Germany carried on about the economy. For a bloody change, England's mind added with a sneer. Occasionally, his eyes had wandered around the room, falling from France, who was yawing loudly with no regard for the looks the German man was sending him in return, to China, stoic as ever, but carrying himself with a new sense of confidence making it abundantly clear who the next world power would be. He had caught sight of Russia situated next to the aforementioned asian nation, a casual smile ever present on his face, but it was just as cold as his winters and steelier than his infamous Prime Minister's disposition. Prussia... God only knew why he even bothered attending these things anymore. It wasn't as if he had a country to run. India was a few seats down and had seen him looking, from time to time sending him a few smiles of greeting in return

But England's train of thought wasn't the recession. Or global warming, or war, or any of the many things plaguing his nightmares as of late. They were in the not so distant past; one where half the countries seated around the conference didn't exist but to serve him, their Empire

Unf, I like that you're taking your time setting this up! And England is actually worrying about informed consent and caring about his partner? What is this healthy relationship doing on my kink meme? Shocking. XD
Calling him “father” or “big brother” is encouraged too ^^
