Indeed, they have. There were countless times when they could have done better. There were many chances. But each time, they failed. Each time, they just ended up being frustrated, only to try again, and end up hurting each other again. They didn't know what was wrong. For the life of him, France really wanted to know. They didn't lack in love--at least he thinks they didn't. They give their all but everything keeps falling apart.
And France, well...he was already exhausted.
"But you still love me." It wasn't a question. It was a statement.

It was a miracle how they remained in love even after hurting each other too much. Over and over and over--France dumped the rest of his coffee in the sink. "Allemagne is already looking for me

Nooo, don't hide! This was awesome and I hope for another chapter soon.:) (Although this anon has to admit to have been wondering about the reputation of slovakian coffee and what anon has been missing out so far, that they even drink it in Brussels...XD) Oh, and anon here is notsosecretly rooting for France/Germany, because there are so few fics for them out there and god they're so damn cute together, but that's your choice of course.:)

I love this <3 These two pairing, and current Europolitics, and omg, jealous!England, for once! And Germany gets so damn interesting when paired with France...he's adorable, so shy and loving here. The relationship that you hinted at between France and England seems so loaded and...intense. I can't wait to see more of this. Will we see other European nations? (like, the already mentioned Ireland, or France's two best friends, what Italy thinks of this, etc). Very good, authoranon! ^^

I love it so far ! I like that the story is fitting with actual political situation (and it's nice to see Francis being courted sometimes, too). Very curious to see where it will go !

I'm really looking forward to seeing where you're going with this (and I must confess I'm kind of hoping that it ends in FRUK, thinking about the EU always makes me feel sad for England and Italy).

Noo, don't hide! This was very sweet. I like how you described their relationships, France's thoughts regarding England and Germany, a bit of their troubled history, too. Relevant to today's politics, but not out of character, either. Perfect!

Oh, this is getting interesting! You keep the contrast between the two relationships fine! I'd like to see more insight in the past of both...
It's good to see some France/Germany for a change, although I can't help thinking England is THE ONE AND ONLY for France... They're my OTP after all hehe ^_^u

I treasure any fic about EU and France/Germany. Now my two OTPs in one fic??? So awesome ^^. I really really hope for it to end up France/Germany though, it's historical accurate that way (and well, there're not much fics of this pairing around).

Wow. I didn't think anyone would actually turn up and read this. I'm overwhelmed by your love. I don't think I've mentioned this but I'm the OP too. I'm filling my own request since someone else had wanted to see it done. I was actually planning to keep the rest of this thing to myself, hence the 1/1. I don't know if I can keep this up since it's still a theory in my head and I don't have that much experience in fanfic. Hopefully none of you get hurt as I trample on the characters' feelings like a rhino.

He sighed and kissed France on the head. The other looked up at him and pecked him on the lips.
"We should always spend time like this," France said into his lips. Germany blushed as he felt the other's grin. "You are more affectionate when we are alone and when Italie and the crisis do not hog your attention."
He coughed. "We are both busy because of the recession. It cannot be helped."
France pouted. "Mon chou, even without the recession, you are always busy." He kissed his jaw. "Sometimes it would seem that you love work more than you love me

"But you look tired. You should get some sleep."
"I will be fine. I will finish some left-over work and then I'll go to sleep."
Prussia grabbed his shoulder and turned him around to face him. "West, you never have left-over work."
It was true; he didn't. He sighed. "Ost, just let me do my work. I'm not sleepy yet."
His older brother looked at him quizzically for a few moments then sighed and drank his beer. "Fine. Don't sleep too late."
"Yes."
Prussia mussed his hair before he turned and left.
Germany slicked his hair back with a sigh and entered his office.
