[Part 12] Germany x France / England x France (part 7b)

Truthfully, it was. He had made sure not to seduce the frog or even touch him in a way that he would be likely to misinterpret as an invitation. He only occassionally mentioned an offer, but knowing France, the frog reponded more to touch than he did to verbal stimulation. Mentioning it from time to time did nothing but inform France that he had another option--a better option. If he was going to get France back, it would be because the tosser wanted it. He would not seduce him back. He knew that luring him out by using lust would not yield to a long-term solution. No, he kept a respectable distance. France would come to his senses and be by his side in time, even without his help.
Canada frowned. "Belgium said you were antagonizing him."
"Dear boy, voicing oberservations hardly qualifies as antagonizing someone," he said haughtily, sipping his tea. "If he just happens to be doing badly, it's his fault; not mine."
"But--"
"America, you're not seriously siding with the kraut, are you

He would love the faces France would make. It was a pity that cameras were not yet invented then. He would have loved to keep the pictures--especially the ones he had made during the hundred years war. The annoyance--the anger--it spelt life in France's face. They'd both felt a rush from those exercises. Even when they fought, England always loved him. Always. Defeating Napoleon had been one of the best fights he'd had with France. Not only did it bring the frog back down from his insanity, but it also resulted in the fall of the Holy Roman Empire by France's own hands--which was really just a bonus. But it made him happier all the same

He set down his cup angrily and noticed his phone blinking repeatedly. He opened the message. It was from Turkey. They'd started being good friends when he decided to support the mediterranean nation in his membership to the EU. He had also asked for his help to convince France to let him join. He agreed, but made no promises.
He licked his lips as he read the contents. His eyes widened in surprise at first before a grin spread across his face. He touched the smooth surface of the the phone's screen, his smile growing as he read further. He sank back into his chair.
Perfect. Just perfect.

Ah, this was fantastic. Everything I like about FrUK, in just four posts. You did the pairing marvelous justice! I wish you'd went into even greater detail...the Norman invasion, the FrUK family time back in the Age of Discoveries day, France's participation in the American Revolution, England's feelings about the Entente...I loved what little you let peek about the last time they were together, post-WWII; it made me want a France POV of this whole thing, but I guess his feelings, even through time, would be too revealing

GERMANY. or England? MAN IT'S HARD TO DECIDE I DON'T WANT ENGLAND T'BE LEFT ALONE AND SAD ;___; But like, if France chooses Germany and England stays alone, it'll be so much more realistic! (Or the other way around, really)

I'm going to be shallow here and admit that I root for England because he's so fucking hot. /fans self
Jokes aside, author!anon, this was a gorgeous chapter. I honestly think the quality of your writing has much improved since the first part (maybe because you involve yourself more in it, I dunno - it touches me more, I guess.) England is profoundly fascinating - selfish, yes, because his relationship with France has always been one of tug o' war, hasn't it? but very much in love with France and unable to let him go. In fact, this chapter has given me the feeling that your England would be completely, utterly lost without France, and that's what he's coming to experience here. It's very interesting, the way you make him into such a conflicted, possessive bastard. Germany hasn't that much characterization - yet, maybe?
... It might just be the FrUKer in me, but I keep feeling that France's current relationship with Germany, as you portray it, is... well, empty. An outlet. Am I reading too much into this? D: (I'll admit to admit,

I prostrate myself before you and this fabulous fic. Your desription of the relationship between England and France is heartbreakingly beautiful and accurate, England's possesiveness, his love, his obessesion... You've captured their relationship perfectly and I must confess I am wholeheartedly supporting FRUK despite how unhealthy thier attachment is (but since when was great love ever healthy? Look at Romeo and Juliet, Heathcliff and Cathy, Rhett and Scarlett...) It's not that I don't like your Germany, I find him adorably sweet and it would be more politically accurate for France to end up with him but even if I could stand the horrible idea of England being left all on his owm, the idea of poor little Italy would make me cry. I'm really interested to see how this will go. Keep up the good work!

I.. really don't know who I want Francis to end up with. I mean, like.. England really needs France and he seems so lost without him. AND DAMN THAT PART WHEN HE ALMOST CRIED I WAS SOBBING OH MY GOD.
Butbut.. England seems to be so obsessed with France. It's really unhealthy. (Though, France seems to be as obsessed as England) Which is why I think I'll root for Germany/France. I really like that pairing and it looks like Germany really cares for France. And that scene where he told France that he loves him was the most touching thing ever. (he was embarrassed yet he still looked into his eyes! It was so in-character and cute and awesome and ohmyGod. ♥)
And besides, I really think that France will feel a lot better with Germany, cause they don't fight that much and the only problem is that Germany is not the ultimate boyfriend (He's trying his best, though. Gotta appreciate that!)

I've only commented on the first parts and not recently, but I enjoy how you put each of their histories into each of the parts. It's very complex, their relationships, but you phrased it very neatly in the context of very long-lived nations.
I happen to vote for Germany only because it's rarer and I'm a little tired of so much Fr/UK these days; however each side has been very well supported (Germany recently, England historically.) But if I really had to be honest, I don't think Germany or England, as they are popularly characterized in the English-speaking fandom, deserve someone as err, wonderful as France, and someone as faithless as France definitely doesn't deserve Germany or England. But that's just me.

Hmmm... Anon above you thinks that would be v. hot, but alas, most things speak against it, canon and history wise. France, for all of his idiosyncrasies, really seems like he belongs with England and/or Germany a tiny bit more than they do together. A tiny, eensy weensy bit. Minuscule.

Lol, I know. It's just that rare pairs make me a happy anon, and we all know how rare England/Germany is - but of course that's precisely due to how impossible they are.
If we can consider German history as a continuous whole, the hope is much higher, since England and Prussia can totally get along no problem prior to 20th century, at least no more problem than England with any other country, lol.
But alas, because of the existence of awesome Prussia and hence making him a separate entity, Germany and England are really kind of the worst enemy pair you can probably ever get.

In modern times, assuming that nations eventually forgive and forget and that there's no extreme animosity, you could pair them together pretty well based on mutual repressed kinkiness. :D

Yeah, it would be fine in modern times, except in the case of football (and don't tell England it's not extreme XD).
I guess they can meet and have kinky sex sometimes. But it's still impossible for me to imagine them being a permanent couple. France would definitely object, unless they let him join of course ^^.

Also, I kind of wish that England is not portrayed more faithless in this fandom ('cause historically he totally is, at least as much as France)
