Spamano. Spain writes romance novels based on his own relationships. When he meets Romano, a cranky bookstore owner who hates those stupid Antonio Fernandez Carriedo trash books with a passion, he decides Romano needs a lesson in loooooove. And who better to teach him than Spain? Along the way, Spain falls in love (whoops). Eventually Romano finds out that his love story was shitty romance novel fodder. He is not pleased.

Includes N.Italy/fem!Japan, past Germany/Spain, past America/Spain, and past Romano/Several.

Warning: other pairings will be introduced as the story unfolds. Some for effect, some because I don't know what they are yet.

“Mr. Bonnefoy, your twelve o'clock is here to see you.”

“Claudine.”

“Mr. Bonnefoy?”

“ClaudiiiiiineShe had grown impervious to his whining after a matter of weeks. It helped that the policies he found the most unreasonable had not been her brainchildren. If Mr. Bonnefoy didn’t like having his visitors screened, he would simply have to take the matter up with Mr. Wang. Or use his time more responsibly. He’d done neither. “Mr. Bonnefoy. Would you like me to tell security to let him through ( ... )

Francis collapsed back onto his desk with a sigh. “Oh. It’s you.” He opened one eye and gave Antonio’s hands a critical once-over with the precision that had initially won him his high post in the publishing industry. “Actually… Antonio, how much do remember your time as a masseuse?” Francis was not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, not even when he’d been expecting a gift vacation to Monte Carlo. Francis appreciated gifts of all shapes, sizes and aesthetics. And the gift of Antonio’s hands on the back of his neck wasn’t quite something to scoff at ( ... )

It wasn’t beyond Gilbert so much, because sort-of-famous musicians could relate much better to sort-of-famous writers. There were some things a businessman would never understand. “The Greek place delivers.” And if Gilbert did the ordering and threw in a few quick verses, the chef might even throw in some free baklava. Gilbert loved that shit.

Claudine appeared at the door, finally, forehead creased. She held her ribbon in her hands and daubed at it lightly with a wet towel. Francis didn’t ask. “Mr. Bonnefoy, this meeting is only scheduled to last an hour. At one you are required to be at the staff meeting in the conference room on floor thirty-three,” he opened his mouth to protest, “you are required to preside,” and shut it. Damn. He couldn’t get out of meetings as easily when he had technically called for them ( ... )

Gilbert fished out the last bits of rice from his bowl and munched out “What’s it about?” around the mouthful. Maybe Francis had to ask, but Gilbert didn’t. He asked out of genuine curiosity from one artist to another. He liked Toni’s stories. They had a lot of heart to them, just like Gilbert’s music did. Not everything had heart.

“I can’t tell you yet.” Maybe… yes. Yes. It would do perfectly. It would fit. It wouldn’t exactly be what Antonio had had in mind back in the café, but in retrospect it fit Lovino’s attitude much better. And Antonio really liked historical romances. “That would spoil it.”

The dark The cold The wet wind whipped Isabel’s heavy skirts back and forth across her legs. She had done it: finally, after years of torment at the hands of her cruel (no, Francis isn’t that bad) difficult stepfather, she had chosen the perfect night. The perfect storm ( ... )

Hello again! I hope the play within the play didn’t throw too many of you for a loop. If you think it can be handled better, tell me (it’s supposed to be medium-awful, but comically medium-awful. I don’t know). There won’t be too many excerpts, but you will get to see bits and parallels of the story’s progression through Spain’s pen ( ... )

Your Spain is so cute so cute so cute!

The excerpt was...just like I imagine a romance novel written by Spain. But a bit more wet.

New reader here! *waves* I was so sure I'd commented last time, especially considering how much I loved your Fem!Japan and how you actually made me like Italy with someone other than Germany, but apparently I didn't? Figures ( ... )

Why yes, I do read through anything, so, hi back :D And thanks, anon who liked the prompt so much^^

Pffff, you really know how to use each character perfectly. Your Gilbert is awesome! But I already loved him before he even appeared just because of a line about him slamming doors xD
Francis and "Grimaldi" (that's such a cool last name!) are as funny as ever. Oh God, I would hate to work for Francis x'D But his office sounds simply awesome. He had a beach there? xDDD How does that even work ( ... )

6non here!

D'aww, Gilbert!! AND I can't help but giggle at Francis here, ahaha. ♥ And that excerpt...threw me off the loop for a bit, but it's really cute to see Antonio...write himself as a woman. XDDD

*narrow eyes* isn't grimaldi the faux-royal name they gave the girl from the 'princess diaries'... whatever, it sounds good. <3

I absolutely adore Spain's little notes between paragraphs, it feels rather familiar. and besides being a little over-wrought... i would read that book.

also, any chapter with all three of the BTD in it is automatically amazing. moreso if they're rather perfectly in character <3

(still suspecting non knows who you are...)

Psst, Grimaldi is the House of the Principality of Monaco since 1200-ish

(useless trivia I felt like sharing)<3

This chapter was also great! :) Former 2non hopes she wasn't creepy with praise last time? I'm really sorry if so. And not constructive enough. Um. I hope we get to see more of Romano soon, since he's so important to the plot and we know relatively little about him so far, but at the same time there's been so much mentioned about Prussia that he had to appear, too. And he's lived up to the reputation I feel he's gathered from the lines about him throughout the first three chapters while it's still all explained between the lines. Which is, well, awesome. I love that we get to see his character through the things he does, or characters' reactions to him, instead of having it explained. Will he and France Monaco Monaco Monaco! <3 be playing a major part in the plot ( ... )

After two days of plotting and drafting, Antonio felt prepared to return to the bookstore. He could only make so many outlines without doing primary character research, and to be honest he had a low opinion of the authors who didn’t do any real research at all. Romance couldn’t be faked. Not really. Not mostly. Well. It was really obvious when you tried to fake romance, which was why Antonio never faked it. Ever. Ludwig had said something about that, once, about how Antonio was quick to fall in love ( ... )
