[Part 15] Ghostly Encounters of the Pirate Kind -- UKUS

Alfred Jones inherits himself a musty old British mansion. He doesn't have a clue what to do with it when he goes to visit. He's even less thrilled to discover his inheritance comes with an added problem in the form of the irritating ghost of a Pirate Captain. Said Pirate isn't any more thrilled to have this American interloper on his property so a battle of wills forms between them.
What happens plot wise is completely up to you. If you want to figure out how to work in ghostly sexual shenanigans that's perfectly fine but it's not necessary. Any other pairings or character additions are fine.
Bonus: The more time Arthur spends with his new housemate the more and more the non-ghost reminds him of a young man he loved (and whose death he caused) while he was still alive. Bonus 2: Just like that young man has a reincarnated form in the modern world so too does Arthur...

Alfred had tried to protest at first. After all, he didn't have the slightest clue what he was doing out there, and said as much. But Arther wasn't captain of the Green Lady for nothing, and proved quite proficient in shouting out clear and precise orders of what he needed for Alfred to do.
Why, just that morning...
"No! Not like that! You'll need a smaller shovel to plant them correctly. Go get one from the shed!" Arther called from just inside the back door. He even pointed the direction, as if Alfred couldn't see it for himself. "You know, during my days sailing the Caribbean, I had the most loyal, hardworking crew a captain could ask for. One would wonder what I must have done to wind up with only you for help." (Actually, both Alfred and Arthur could have probably thought up an answer or two to that.)
Alfred sighed and went to get the required tool, making faces at Arther when he was out of sight. "I'm not your 'help', Artie! We share the house, remember?"
"How many times must I tell you not to call me that!"Threat of salty

The thunder must have been especially loud, or maybe Alfred was just restless. Whatever the case, at an hour that no reasonable person should be awake, he was walking down the stairs to the kitchen to get a drink.
'Arthur must be around too.' he thought, spitting the salt water that poured from the tap back into the sink and figuring it was safer to grab some juice from the fridge. Good thing he hadn't done the dishes yet.
He didn't see Arthur until he was heading back.
The captain was standing in front of the mantel, gaze fixed on the Green Lady, resting on its stand. He was either oblivious to or hyper aware of the storm raging outside, because he hadn't noticed Alfred at all

Author!Anon, this is oficially brilliant. ♥
Also, i'm rather giddy about the first line:
"Well, you've been here this long. I suppose it won't hurt to keep you around a little longer; see if you can be of any use..."
I suspect it refers to the past and that past!Alfred was a stowaway on Arthur's ship. (And that he died during a storm and poor Arthur was inconsolable ever since ;_;)

I wish there was a movie about this story. Your descriptions are very cinematographic, in a way, I cna easily visualize the spectacular scene they could make on screen. I really love your take on the characters, and the ghost mythos here. Such an awesome fill! I can't wait to see the mistery behind Ivan's obsession (for the moment he's wonderfully creepy, nice use of the character), and for the swaying of the house.

*hangs head* So late once again. *sighs*
Still loving this something fierce. The twist with Ivan coming in and clearly being after something. How quickly Arthur has gotten protective of Alfred. That hint into his past being so freaked out about storms. It's all just so beautiful and perfect.

How it all comes together (or Good things come in Twos) I Want to BelieveBrikenson's library was emptier than he was used to. Still, Alfred was happy to see the number of students who continued to make use of it during the summer off-months. He nodded now and then to a familiar face as he walked by, though constantly kept an eye out for the aisle he was looking for, lest he miss it. He didn't come back to this section that often, preferring to stick with the science journals and publications the next floor up, but he knew he had to be getting close

"Yeah, tell me about it." Alfred chuckled under his breath. If only Antonio knew. He wondered if his colleague would still be calling Arthur 'interesting' if the two ever got the chance to meet face to face

Okay, fine. That made sense. But Alfred wasn't quite ready to let it go. "Out for another walk then?" he asked, sarcasm lacing his tone.
That smile. "Actually, yes. I've come to enjoy walking very much, as I'm sure you might suspect. And from St. Anthony's to here and back again is a pleasant distance to travel. It helps clear one's head."
St. Anthony's? Oh yeah, the stalker counseling. At least it seemed to be working.
"I'm glad you're here though. I wanted to thank you."
What?
"What?" Alfred asked, blindsided by that last statement.
"For letting me..." Smile. "Walk by your house so often. And observe."
"Observe? Now what are you talking about?" This was new. "Is that why you kept coming by?"
Ivan nodded an affirmative, but ignored the first questions. "I think, thanks to that, I can do what I need to do now." he said instead.
"And just what is that? And what did my house have to do with it?" Alfred asked, frustrated that instead of relief and answers all he was getting was more questions out of this encounter

Something was sizzling on the stove top when he entered, and Arthur turned his head away in distaste to see what the chef himself was up to. Peeling potatoes it looked like. (Alfred had sung a little rhyme about them when he'd carried them in. Potato, potahto, tomato--he'd snorted at this part, Arthur could only wonder why--tomahto. Let's call the whole thing off!)
And it was so ordinary. So plain; Alfred standing there whistling and peeling. But that moment hit Arthur like a freight train.
A flash of another young man doing the exact same thing.
There he was. There he was. Right in front of him
