[part 4] Something There (cont) - France/Russia, young Russia taught to love himself anonymous January 30 2011, 06:00:00 UTC

Before Russia was the big scary rape truck that hetalia says was the USSR, he was a teenager. A creepy, lonely, gawky, big-boned teenager. France comes along and teaches him to love his body.

Thank you so much, I'm glad you liked the ending. I really enjoyed writing for this prompt, and although I doubt I'll have the time to write something of this scale again, I thank you for the support.

He wondered if his citizens would miss him so when they left his borders, but he feared they might not, and instead hoped they would always stay with him and never leave.

I loved how you wove just a hint of creepiness into the adorableness, something born of insecurety that we know will later blossom into something horrible. It fit in smugly and perfectly and served as a tiny reminder that yes, this awkward teenager is still Russia.

All in all, I simply loved the fill. It was all adorable and awesome and perfect, and the end was bittersweet and hopeless and still... still I want to hope that maybe some day in the future, they can get back together. After both of them have fallen, maybe.

Sad to see one of my favourite fills here end, but at the same time I'm very glad that it came to a round end like this.

Thank you so much for the comment, I'm glad to hear at least a few people liked the ending. I doubt I'll have the time to write something of this scale again, but I enjoyed writing for this pairing and I appreciate your support. I like to think they had a happy ending after this anyway.

Author!Anon, I really liked this! I'm shit at leaving comments but your Russia has such great character development and the imagery is beautiful.

There has never been a fic that has made me feel quite like this one. I realized that Russia and France have a sad history in my own research of Russo-French relations, but this made how tragic they are all too apparent, and with your beautiful writing, I thought I was going to cry at the end. This will surely go down as one of the best FRussia fics I have ever read. Thank you author anon.

Thank you very much anon, I am very flattered. I don't know about this being the best Frussia fic when compared to the excellent fills here, but I did my best, and I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed it.

I understood the end and the whole hinting (wanting his citizens to never leave) but I didn't get the Pierre thing...sorry T.T

I enjoyed reading this though! The imagery was beautiful.

Sorry, I guess I could have explained that better. It is part of my headcanon about the nation's pets having a sort of deeper relationship to the nation. In this case, Pierre was like a way for France to know he's been away too long, that the people are suffering, which is what I think happens if a nation is too long away from their land. I don't know if that made any sense, probably not, but that was what I sort of intended.

Thanks for the comment, I'm glad you enjoyed.
