Greece/Japan -- Gakuen AU, friendship turning into something more

Heracles and Kiku have been friends since childhood. When they enter high school, however, things begin changing. Heracles begins to be approached by girls and/or guys, leading Kiku to realize that his friend has developed very nicely. And that he might not be so happy about Heracles suddenly getting all this attention.
Meanwhile, Heracles can't help but notice that Kiku has a really nice smile and that Sadiq trying to coax that smile out of him pisses him a lot more than it did before.
In short, the adorably awkward fluff that comes out of these two maneuvering into the "more than friends" stage in high school.

It was just like any day at the bakery. Sure, it was slightly busy, but other than that, it was normal. Sadiq was at the counter, charming customers with his dazzling wit and good looks. Gupta was standing next to him, bagging the sweets and pastries that the customers ordered.
Kiku entered the shop at around noon. As soon as he entered the shop, Sadiq abandoned his current customer in order to talk to Kiku. The customer was clearly annoyed that the dashing Turkish cashier was paying more attention to the handsome Japanese man than to him.
"Yo, Kiku! How's life?" Sadiq said eloquently.
"Fine, Sadiq-san. Thank you for asking." Kiku said softly, smiling that beautiful smile that was reserved for Sadiq-only for Sadiq, not for that lazy Greek asshole

Casually, Sadiq took out a pistol from his pocket. Casually, he pointed the gun straight at the Greek bastard's smug face. Casually, he shot the Greek bastard.
I wasn't expecting the introduction to focus so much on the Mediterranean trio, but I have to say that I liked this unorthodox introduction. I'm guessing that this was a setup for Heracles' jealousy (walking unusually fast, huh?) and the next part will focus more on Kiku and Heracles?
Anyway, I like this so far and I'm curious to see where you'll take this!

Kiku knew that Heracles was fast, but not this fast.
Well, that was the wrong way to put it. Kiku knew that Heracles didn't run unless he absolutely had to; when he did run, he was surprisingly fast. But Heracles never walked fast. He preferred to walk at a leisurely pace, as that helped him think. Kiku enjoyed that pace, too-it was nice to just relax as he watched his surroundings.
At that moment, however, the Greek's walk wasn't slow and steady, not at all. Instead, it was fast and brisk. He was glaring down at the sidewalk, as if he was blaming the sidewalk for his troubles. Kiku was pretty sure that Heracles was swearing under his breath-he had witnessed enough of Heracles and Sadiq's fights to know the outcome.
Kiku was barely able to keep up with Heracles. "Heracles-san!" he panted. Heracles didn't hear him-or maybe he was ignoring Kiku, but Kiku hoped that it wasn't the case. He hated being ignored by his friends, and Heracles knew that.
Kiku quickened his pace, taking large steps. Only a few more steps-there! Swiftly,

"That Turkish assh-" Heracles started, than stopped. Kiku knew that it nearly killed Heracles to say Sadiq's name, so Kiku cut in.
"Sadiq."
"Right. Him." Heracles rubbed the back of his neck. Kiku watched as Heracles's strong hand massaged his firm neck, which actually seemed very smoo-
"Umm," Heracles's voice interrupted Kiku's thoughts. "I'm sorry that he got to me. It's just that every time I see him, I want to punch him in the face so bad

"but Yao was like one of the those tentacle monsters from the mangas Kiku kept underneath his mattress-nimble, determined, and quick." I love you anon! this is very cute so far, hope to see more :)
I love how you're depicting their relationship at this stage. Even though there's an awkward 'compromising position' moment, they're not blushing or stammering every time they look at each other. There are definite hints of an attraction deep within, but they're still mainly friends who don't need to comment on how well they know each other for us to pick up on it. It fits them very well. :)
Aww, thanks! *blushes* But this two are soooo hard to write! I adore these two, believe me, but I tend to get nervous about writing them, because I don't want them to be OOC.

Awww, I'm definitely enjoying your characterization of everyone, especially descriptions of people who aren't around, like Yao. <3 I'm totally stalking this thread for the next update! *cheers you on*
Hehe, you're welcome. Being a fic writer too, I totally understand and empathize. Silly writer's block. I'm sure it'll go away when you least suspect it. They're sneaky that way. *nods*
