"It's good of you to come so far to my land. Tea, comrade?" The Soviet Union's smile is nearly pleasant.
China leans to rest his elbow on the sofa's arm and his jaw against his knuckles, hiding his grimace of disgust with a smirk. "Yes, certainly, comrade," he says.
Not so long ago he was Russia: strictly speaking, the nation before China is the Soviet Socialist Republic of Russia, but nobody calls him that now. He won't answer to the name 'Russia' in any way.
"Tea!" The Soviet Union calls over his shoulder. He turns to meet China's eyes. "It would be my grand honor to unite with you under the purpose of seeing to the equality of all men and the downfall of the wrong-headed imperialists of the west."
"And east," China reminds him, thinking of Japan with a venomous fury. He breathes in through his nose. He's too old to let these things show on his face. "And I would be honored to unite with you--" what he thinks is, it would be your honor to unite with me - "But I must give some consideration, since I have to see to the

*cringes* Oh, I see why China might have some issues with how Russia USSR does things. It's very clear in this section especially that being in an alliance is just one more step towards becoming one-with-Russia:
"He is your ally?" China asks, pointing.
"He is more than that; he is part of me," the Soviet Union replies, stirring sugar into his tea. "
Also apparent is that China decides that he most certainly does not want to become one-with-Russia. This was very well written, and there is much to gain from reading it. Thank you for providing us with this little gem!
