Something about England reminds me of a rose. Really pretty on its own but still dangerous because of the thorns.
And its his national flower too.

It seems like an eternity has passed before a bell is wrung for a break. Both ambassadors stand, mopping sweaty brows with handkerchiefs. Not OP, but this was amazingly poetic. I love the 'dangerous' theme interwoven throughout, and how you've set this in and around the Opium Wars. I adore your China, and I love the focus and insight you've given him on England's power (and deceit ( ... )

Yeah, I've always had the headcanon that Nations will agree with their people before their government. Unfortunately, that wasn't a good thing in this case...

Oh wow... I dont usually read UK/Chnia fills but I am very glad that the prompt was filled with it. The way you write these two in this is really really good and I love all the reasoning behind Yao saying England is a rose. The part at the end with the thorns and how everyone loves roses. Just beautiful.

For me to read and really love a pairing that I dnt usually like is uncommon so well done on that!

I love you. I love this!! It's beautiful and it makes my stomach churn because as much as I ship these two, their relationship is so painful at times. Your writing style is so lovely and poetic, and you've captured England and China so wonderfully! *saves to reread later~*

.This was-- *points to the above two comments* Yeah, that. I love Iggychu in terms of the opium war, and I don't think I've ever seen it explored so wonderfully. The detail, the characterization, the flow of this piece, they're all great. Awesome job~
