USUK - Collision of worlds anonymous March 4 2012, 04:29:51 UTC
No one says that America is good at romance. But he tries his best. So he decides to serenade England ... with Collision of Worlds from Cars 2.

Humorous, please!

A/N: An America/England prompt coupled with one of the most fitting (or the most) songs for that pairing? I just had to fill this! The story does not fully focus on the serenading part though, I hope OP is fine with that. That said, I hope you will enjoy this!A/N 2: Washington D.C. time will be on the left, while London time will be on the right. Just for reference - London time is GMT (Greenwich Meridian Time) and Washington D.C. time is GMT-5. Hopefully I managed to get the GMT time zone for Washington D.C. right, I got so confused about Daylight Savings Time. I apologise if there are any miscalculations in time, and in the case of that happening, refer to the London time since I wrote the whole thing first using London time and only added in the Washington D.C. time much later.
[1 February Wednesday 15:28] - [1 February Wednesday 20:28]America is watching Disney Channel when an advertisement for the programmes on Valentine's Day reminded him that there is, well, Valentine's Day. Almost immediately, a particular lonely old man with ( ... )

[4 February Saturday 08:00] - [4 February Saturday 13:00]
England receives a bouquet of geranium flowers[1] with the note: 'With love, from Alfred F. Jones.' Without any hesitation at all, he tosses them to the ground and tramples on them.

[4 February Saturday 08:01] - [4 February Saturday 13:01]
England calls America. America picks up cheerfully, expecting the Englishman to be gushing about how wonderful and pretty the flowers are. He doesn't. He gets a lecture about how he is being a complete idiot. America hangs up.

[4 February Saturday 08:03] - [4 February Saturday 13:03]
America calls Canada and complains to him about how ungrateful England is. Canada doesn't really care, but sighs and listens.

[4 February Saturday 08:22] - [4 February Saturday 13:22]
America doesn't feel like he has vented enough yet. He calls France and complains to him about how ungrateful England is. A very angry and very, very British sounding voice responded. Wrong number. America hangs up.

[6 February Monday 18:32] - [6 February Monday 23:32]
America wakes up with a growling stomach. He calls the pizza place for a delivery of three boxes of pizza. All for himself, of course.

[6 February Monday 18:33] - [6 February Monday 23:33]
America goes to the refrigerator for some ice-cream but remembered that he ran out. He reminds himself to get more tomorrow. He goes back to the living room and sits on the couch, watching television.

[6 February Monday 18:47] - [6 February Monday 23:47]
America sees an advertisement for customised teddy bears. He thinks those are cute and knows England likes cute things, even if the guy tries deny it. He pulls out the Notes application in his iPhone and brought up a new note:

Ways to win arties heart!
Build a bear bear

[6 February Monday 18:48] - [6 February Monday 23:48]
America sees an advertisement for MacDonald's. He pulls out the application again and brings up the note from before, adding:

Choice of restaurant for v day
Mickey ds

[6 February Monday 19:43] - [7 February Tuesday 00 ( ... )

asdfghjkl;

Call me soppy but this is just too cute. <3 Valentine's fics are perfect for any time of year.

I love your characterisation. Not overblown, but subtly them. It's so America, just waking up one morning and realising he likes someone because the television brought on some kind of epiphany. I like the sort of diary format to it also, it works well.

Matchmaker!Canada is adorable, almost as much as long-suffering!Canada. I'm somewhat surprised Japan gave a fairly normal answer, but it's a good surprise - and I half-suspected Hong Kong to report back to England there, but the firework suggestion is clearly more productive. <3

And I'm also now wondering if England is as oblivious as he first seemed to be... Surely the flowers would be a clue? Aside from their unfortunate connotations, nevertheless. I wonder America's rant to 'France' consisted of, that might've been a giveaway.

Favourite part so far?

He was pretty sure England dislikes noises, seeing that almost whenever he talks, he either becomes extra grouchy or tells ( ... )

This is a wonderful request and a brilliant fill. I think you've managed to capture America and England perfectly. I think having both times is a good idea and some things make a lot more sense (like why England was so annoyed with America calling him).

I am really looking forward to the next part!

Hahaha, oh God. 'Choice of restaurant for v day: Mickey ds'??

America, you gotta be joking... xD

This is brilliant; so very America at his (failed) attempts for wooing his damsel... Obviously waiting for the next part :D
