England -> America or other former colony – missing them, "New York"

I want to see a fic about England missing a former colony, inspired by "New York" by Snow Patrol (from their album “Fallen Empires”, which just makes it even more appropriate). America is the obvious choice for this one because of the song title and some of the lyrics, but any former colony is fine too.

Bonus 1: If England’s missing America, it’s in a platonic/parental/fraternal way instead of a romantic way.
Bonus 2: England’s drunk at the time.
Bonus 3: One of the UK brothers (Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland) comforts England.
