I read a headcanon on tumblr that said America would be more ashamed to come out as having a Communist boyfriend than he would be ashamed of coming out gay. Anon totally agrees! America is hiding his relationship with China because of that reason (how China feels about it is up to you, but bonus points if he is completely unaware that's the reason America won't tell anyone they're together) BUT eventually he tells everyone, in a huge, flashy show.

Bonus: China doesn't want anyone to know he's dating America either, whether because he's a Capitalist, his age, or just that he's kind of annoying (America finds this out, thinks that's totally uncool)
