Any - Nations and the supernatural

Since it's getting close to Halloween, I want to see a nation interacting with the supernatural beings of their country. Maybe teaming up together to scare others or the supernatural doing their own thing while the nation remains oblivious.

Anyone is fine, but I'd especially like to see Romania, Japan (whether he knows they're there or not), or England.

The night was cold but her voice was colder. In the still air, the words felt like a knife sinking slow and steady into his gut.

“Am I beautiful?”

Japan considered screaming for a moment, eyes locked resolutely on her brow. Gaze never daring to wander, not a glimpse nor a blink - he hadn’t seen her before but he wasn’t curious. Lone souls let pass other lone souls in empty silent streets. The woman was a predator.

“Yes.”

Pale pretty face dripping blood and mapped with stitches, Japan could only guess what had happened. The human body was fragile, dying countless deaths at the hand of countless things. Such sorry creatures, he thought. Wondrous things bound in weak flesh.“How about now? Am I still beautiful

The creature Japan interacts with is the Kuchisake-onna who is a woman with her mouth slit from ear to ear (or, depending on how badly they want to scare you, a mangled jaw). She wears a trench coat and a surgical mask covering her mouth. When she approaches, she'll ask you if she's beautiful. If you answer yes, she'll remove her mask and ask you again. If you still say yes, she brings out a pair of scissors and cuts your mouth like hers. An answer of no to either of the questions makes her kill you.

To survive you simply have to give a neutral indefinite answer like "You look so-so" or "You look okay, not too good not too bad". She'll get confused and give you time to haul ass.
That's it.

This was a really cool story. I really like your writing style! It's concise but still fairly evocative.

And the Kuchisake-onna is an interesting creature :)

aaaaa, seconding microfill or not, I really enjoyed this!

I was surprised that I recognized the story of the Kuchisake onna before I read the notes (though I didn't remember the name), and I like how you wrote Japan's slightly detached views. It amused me.
