I-I know that other!anon claimed this but I wanted to try my hands at it too. Uh, this is my first time doing anything like this so hopefully it doesn't suck too terribly. Apologies all around if it blinds anyone.

Oh and as a little bit of background of the history of tomatoes and Italy, "The Spanish also brought the tomato to Europe. It grew easily in Mediterranean climates, and cultivation began in the 1540s. It was probably eaten shortly after it was introduced, and was certainly being used as food by the early 1600s in Spain. The earliest discovered cookbook with tomato recipes was published in Naples in 1692, though the author had apparently obtained these recipes from Spanish sources. However, in certain areas of Italy, such as Florence, the fruit was used solely as tabletop decoration before it was ever incorporated into the local cuisine until the late 17th or early 18th century." Oh Italy...

Where was that guy anyways? Nightfall was only a few short hours away and there was still no word from him. Romano wandered over to the main doorway and held the tomato a little closer to his small frame; his expression changing from disgust to a more worried one. He wasn't worried, no of course not. Nothing ever could have happen to that obnoxious Spaniard... He'd be home just as he promised, however that other bastard with the thick eyebrows and even more so questionable taste in food had been picking on Spain lately. And Spain had come home with more cuts and bruises than the norm. Romano hunched over and tighten his grip on the tomato without bruising it; for some reason there were tears in his eyes ( ... )
