USA/Korea: The Moose anonymous March 9 2009, 23:44:21 UTC
Re: USA/Korea: The Moose [1/5] anonymous March 9 2009, 23:47:46 UTC
The kid is skinny and big-eyed and actually pretty tall. But then again, those big eyes come from a thin and wasted face, the flesh having drawn away from eyesockets, and he is only tall when he bothers to stand up straight, which is rare.

He is an anomaly in many ways and Alfred doesn’t mind that; he likes odd things, if only to piss off other people. For one thing, the kid isn’t like the other… girlfriends his fellow soldiers keep. It’s a stretch to call him a girlfriend (as well as well, lacking in one of the basic qualifications). And for another thing, he isn’t from a family who sold him.

He had sold himself.

“Yes?” Alfred turned around to see a slightly stooped figure by him. The figure, dressed in white and blue that smells just a little musty as though his clothes have been buried somewhere for a little too long, offered a hesitant, shy smile. Then, in that strange manner of Koreans (and Japanese and Chinese Alfred has to admit to himself), he offered forward a neatly folded letter in both his hands. Giving the boy a long, ( ... )

Smiling shyly and rather nervously, the kid picks up the glass and oddly enough turns his face around and covers his mouth as he sips. Alfred can hear a muffled cough and the boy turns around with his cheeks slightly flushed and his lips starting to turn red.

“Asians,” the blonde mutters under his breath. He drinks half of his right away, whether from nervousness or irritation he can’t say.

They sit in silence for a while and Alfred has had two glasses before he irritably turns on the radio and the scratchy sounds of The Andrews Sisters filled the air. After one full glass (roughly), the kid is flushed already and he blinks slowly, his gaze unfocused. Alfred finally reaches out to touch at the boy’s forehead, in a reflection of what mothers do to check for fever. The boy starts a little at the touch, blinking drunkenly still.

Alfred tells himself that he isn’t a gentle man. He’s never been one. He doesn’t take charity cases. All he does is try to be a hero. He barges in, saves the day and leaves. As simple as that.

Alfred teasingly traces oily fingers along the base of the kid’s balls, partially to test the response to the temperature of the oil. No jumping or yelping, so it’s probably all right. Then he stops pussyfooting around to start slipping fingers into the other’s puckered hole. He doesn’t receive quite as much resistance as he’d expected though obviously there is some. Slowly, he curls his finger and twists it, hunting along intimate walls. He feels it temporarily and then- the kid jumps, startled. His mouth hangs open in a silent cry that will never be heard and his pupils dilate once more. Satisfied, Alfred probes around that area, blood bounding in his ears as he slips in a second finger to scissor back and forth. The third finger seems to go in without any real thought and he is careful when he sees a wince crease the round face ( ... )

The edge on America's characterization, and the glimpse of Japan (especially America's reaction to Japan), and the take on postwar Korea with the hints at what had happened to him before... so sobering, and so excellent.

In the light of the room, he can see the scars that riddle the slim chest. Stripes of white and red, which makes the blonde laugh, a brief bout of hysteria which makes the boy look at him quizzically.

“White and red,” Alfred manages to choke. “Under your blue and white.” It makes him laugh even harder, hysterical laughter that doesn’t seem like it’s going to stop.

Also this part? This part was awesomely creepy. Duuude.
