Psychic Sex.

The Cold War-era Stargate Project: The U.S. spent 20 mil. trying to achieve assorted psychic abilities, primarily remote viewing and telepathy, in order to combat similar programs being conducted by he Soviet Union. Obviously, both sides failed.

This prompt is based on the idea that they didn't... but Russia and America would like the others to think otherwise.

How you do it, I don't care; accidentally picking up thoughts, intentional attempts at "distraction" during vital conferences, just have fun with it!

tl;dr : Russia and America, psychic sex. Simple, right?

It was something they’d been working on before their uneasy truce had come to an end, and America had become a Capitalist Dog and Russia had become a Dirty Red Bastard. They’d all been working on it, slowly building. China was the only one, at the start of the War, that had been able to do it. America had been the slowest to learn-and what a shouting match that had been with China (“You should have warned me that Japan was coming!” “I tried!”). But by the time he was a Capitalist Dog and the Soviet Union (just Russia, though; the others were just Misguided, Deluded, Blinded By Their Poverty) was a Dirty Red Bastard, America was almost sure he had it down ( ... )

He pulled himself out of bed, ignored the interest he had in Russia’s foreign policy, and thought of the worst things he could. He thought them at Russia mostly, and at his interest, and he stepped under the water from his shower head and gasped as his body felt the shock of cold water.

In his mind, Russia continued, chuckling now, and though he could still hear Russia murmuring in his own language, he could hear, dark and insidious in Russia’s thoughts, You think a little bit of cold will be stopping me, boy?America thought of an iron curtain around his thoughts, pushing Russia out of his mind, ignoring the lingering smell of sex in his nostrils and the little sounds the young Baltic had been making. He scrubbed his hands over his face, and left the water blisteringly cold ( ... )

The first thing that let him know Russia was there was the creeping, icy feeling he always got before Russia started talking to him. One of the cabinet members who knew a little bit of the history looked over at America, frowning, but America ignored him and made a note on what the President was saying.

But then there was the noise of Russia’s breath, the feel of it, and hands on him, everywhere, sliding over his body. He tried to ignore it, tried to throw up his defenses and protect himself from the invasion, but Russia was strong. Years had passed, and Russia was stronger than he remembered him being, so strong that America could feel it-not just the power, but Russia himself, strong and tall and cool but warming to the touch ( ... )

sgljskdFFFFFFFFFFFFFF ANON YESSSS it's. So. Bloody. Perfect. I mean, the Cold War wasn't a physical war with troops and fronts, it was all a big mental game to begin with! So it's the Cold War personified... then personified AGAIN... with mind games between them. Yesssss... mwahahaha PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT. *head-desk again and again and again YES*

I'm only sad because I'm almost afraid to go read anymore Russia/America because it's going to have quite a time meeting the excellence of this... mmm... to be in any way helpful, I really liked how the narration always referred to them by their country names, but their other names in dialogue... worked very well, made it more effective, somehow.

Author!Anon, I do hope you realize that I will never forget this line. (I wish I was using the conventional reader!anon brand of hyperbole.)

Something about it makes it vibrate powerfully, over and over again in my head.

Not only that, but this entire fanfic in general. In its entirety, it captures the Cold War in an amazing new way--almost perfect; using its own experiments as a kind of metaphor for the whole "war" itself.

...Oh, man. This is my third time reading this: I read it once when it was first written, and remembering how amazing it was, I hunted it down for a couple hours until I found it and read it again. And then read it again.

Truly genius, authornon. You have my eternal love, and this fic will always be in my top three list for what may be my fandom life.
