So, a friend of mine just gave me the lowdown on how Poland was kind of a bitch to Lithuania before the start of WWII, and tensions really didn't settle out until sometime during the...shall I call it reign? Of the Soviet Union. So. Yes.

Poland/Lithuania, making up and getting back together.

Bonus points if Liet cries at some point.

Super-extra-special-awesome bonus points if Poland cries, too, and tries to hide it.

A part of him is sure that Poland will not open the door for him, and Lithuania wouldn’t blame him a bit if he didn’t. He stands with his fist raised, ready to knock, imagining the blonde’s skeptical face appearing at the door for a split-second before slamming it shut. Just the thought of it sets his stomach churning unpleasantly ( ... )

Poland shrugs his slim shoulders and scuffs at the floor with one foot. “Figured you were like, still pissed at me. About Wil- Vilnius. I totally owe you an apology.”

Lithuania shakes his head, he’s done thinking about that and he’s too happy to see Poland to want to bring up bad blood between them. “No…no, that’s not necessary, really…” but Poland holds up a hand to stop him and he falls silent by force of habit.

“Seriously. I really need to apologize, and I think that somewhere, deep down maybe, you want to hear it. So- I’m sorry. I was like, caught up with myself and I didn’t think. And I know, you’re gonna say ‘Poland, you’re always caught up with yourself and you never think,’ but I mean, like, more than usual ( ... )

He watches the blush rise up Poland’s neck and into his face and the way he tries to hide his pleased smile. It leaves an unfamiliar contentment in Lithuania’s stomach.

“Well, like, obviously. Whatever doesn’t kill me only makes me more fabulous, right?” He tries to laugh but his own joke makes him uncomfortable, and he fishes for a new subject again, one that brings a real smile to his face. “What about you? You’re independent now, right? Congrats! I’m totally happy for you.”

And it’s so apparent that he is that Lithuania can’t remember ever being angry with him for any reason ( ... )

He stands, paces the room for a moment before looking Lithuania straight in the eyes, unusually serious.

“I don’t want any part of you unless you want to give it to me. I’m not gonna storm in and take anything because I want it or because I think I can protect you,” he says firmly. “And…and I’m totally glad we weren’t together ‘cause you might have been hurt worse than you were. God, Liet, I couldn’t handle that. So like, it’s okay if you changed, ‘cause I changed too. I- oh shit, Liet, are you crying ( ... )

Cool fic. However I sensed more guilt on Liet's part than from Poland. I wonder if that was because he teamed up with Russia against Poland to get Vilnius back. Speaking of Russia, it's awesome you mentioned him cause no Lithuania fic is complete without the mention of Russia.
