I'm not the previous anon (and I hope they're still planning to fill this! *__*), and uuuum this turned out darker than I was intending, but THAT'S WAR, I guess. I don't know if that's what you wanted, OP, but I hope you like?

The flames were everywhere. From where Alfred was standing, it seemed like the whole world was on fire.

And as far as he was concerned, it was.

The buildings of the House and the Senate were already blazing-his once proud Library of Congress was being reduced to so much ash. And now that the Canadian soldiers had finished their meal-a meal that had been intended for his president and his men- they were ransacking the mansion as well, and piling up fuel to add to the inferno. Alfred watched helplessly, feeling very small and very helpless.
