Since then, they have fallen and been replaced by looming gray blocks of steel. The lush green countryside is now a smog-coated industrial wasteland. Even the people are drastically changed, dressed in western clothing and quietly conversing amongst themselves as they wait. I only see WIN here, no fail whatsoever. The tension between the two of them and poor Hong Kon stuck in the middle of it, I really want to read more!

Hong Kong doesn’t dare look at China until Britain and all the observers have completely disappeared from the vicinity. Before he can face his new father, though, a groan comes from China. Hong Kong watches in surprise as he abandons all restraint and slumps to the floor, face in hands. While it is true (Britain has obliterated what he originally was and replaced it with Western ideals), Hong Kong knows that Britain’s hold on him cannot last forever. He tentatively approaches China and whispers, “Just because he has it now does not mean he will have it forever. My heart was yours at the beginning, and it will be yours again, soon.” Hong Kong smiles softly as China glances up

whoa. i thought it was gonna be one of those lame ass endings where everybody is happy and heading towards the sunset and shit, but the ending dialogue saved it oh so brilliantly :D
