The thing that strikes him first and foremost is how much Chaojing has grown and changed. He still wears his hair as he did as a child-thick and layered and hanging into his eyes like a ruffian-but there is nothing else of him that is the same. He is tall, taller than Yao anyway, and he talks with his hands moving. Everything he says is “Hey!” and “Ya know?” and “Honest,” and, at times, Yao can’t understand half the words coming out of his mouth, like he was speaking Shanghanese or one of the western dialects rather than Canton or Han.
The thing that sticks with him, once he gets used to Chaojing being in his house again, is that sometimes Chaojing doesn’t respond to his name. Sometimes Yao has to bend and break and call him Michael for him to notice. But Chaojing is always bashful when that happens, and Yao knows he is working hard to become ( ... )

Chaojing is behind him almost before the words are out, rubbing at Yao’s shoulders. Yao moans softly, smiling and shutting his eyes in bliss. There hasn’t been a time since before that annoyance Alexander came to India that Yao has let his guard down long enough to really relax. Chaojing’s hands feel heavenly, even through the thick weave of his coat.
The first kiss is barely a brush to the back of his head, and Yao thinks he’s imagined it. But then it comes again after he’s tilted his head forward, a more real press against the nape of his neck. This alone just took me by surprise, the first two details so unique to these two, something that China would really never ignore... and my heart just panged at it...
and then and then AND THEN
the actual sex scene just slayed me... even though my brain automatically read it as the usual "One country, two systems" it still clicked my jaw just kind of dropped for a second... but my gosh the portrayal was just so well crafted with so few words, I just died, literally died.
I wish I had seen the flub *came directly here through friend's link... and wants to stalk writer* but but but this is more than enough, just really wonderful stuff... ♥
