It's noontime on a sweltering day of an already sweltering summer. With the heat and humidity, China has forsaken propriety for comfort; his changshan is half-off, the cloth crumpled at his waist. The sweat never quite dries off his skin, even though he is sprawled against the cool wood floor, his back exposed to the open air. Once in awhile, he shifts, pulls the hair tie out or twists it back in again. He can't make up his mind whether to keep it in or out. It's too warm for him to care about anything, and anyway, there's no one for miles to see but Japan

Sorry for the lack of actual smut, sorry for the lameness, sorry for the. general lack of much calligraphy - the fic ran away with me. Someone else fill it with something better.

Speaking as an interested reader, for whom writing/painting on skin is a major kink, this hit absolutely all of my buttons without actually being smutty. And since the goal of a kink meme (as I understand it) it to hit one's buttons, I'd say you did exactly what was intended.

That's so wonderful. I love how you make it sound like the most natural thing in the world for Japan to want. I love how their feelings tread the boundary between fondness and want. And I love the ending most of all.
